We have been on two cruises now, but I am not sure we are "cruise people". We don't really like to take part in most of the onboard activities, clubs, specialty restaurants, casino or shows. We did enjoy most of our meals in the Dining Room with exceptional service from our server, Aleksandra, and our Room was very nice with extraordinary service from our Steward, Nazareth. We enjoy the convenience of having a room to stay every night with transportation to different ports of call, but we don't like paying for services and shows we do not want. In room "first run" movies would be nice, and we would like being able to bring our own wine or drinks. We don't like paying extra for soft drinks or wine unless you buy the extremely expensive passes.

The Cabin was very roomy with a wonderful Sea View. Lots of cabinets and drawers plus a roomy closet made it easy to put away everything we had brought with us plus items purchased along the way. The only negative was that I needed a US electric plug in the bathroom which we did not have.
Ship tip
I think Excursions may limit your ability to see things and shop with as much time as you need at most ports.
We stayed a day before the cruise and a day after, but it seems like it might work better to go straight to the cruise, and take 2 - 3 days in Venice afterwards. This was our third trip to Venice so we did not do any excursions, but we might have done some with a little more time. We were so "jet lagged" that we could not really get the most out of our first day in Venice getting there from the airport.
We spent most of the day on the excursion to Budva which was nice, but there is such limited time at port, I would recommend skipping the excursion and enjoying more time in Kotor.
Still need more time at this port, but even excursions won't carry you up to the Acropolis. Fortunately, I last visited this city when I was 20, and I practically jogged up to the top. At 63, I am no longer capable of making the trip without much effort. We did enjoy spending time in the Plaka.
Very windy with only a few sites and very high priced shopping. Lunch was god by the port, but we would skip this port in the future. Allergy reactions to all the wind (and cats everywhere) made my wife sick for the rest of the trip.
Excursion to the underground lake at Mellisiana was nice, but the Beach at Myrto looked nice with hard pebbles that were impossible to walk on in bare feet. I would probably skip this port in the future also.
They should tell you in advance that if you want to carry all your own bags off the ship, you will need to go out of a different debarkation point on the ship with your larger bags.
@dwate, I believe you are able to bring wine on the ship. If you bring the bottle to dinner with you, they will charge a corking fee even if it is already opened. My sister in law filled a glass in her room and then brought that to dinnner, no problem. We still love cruising. Haven't been on any ships yet that we had to pay for anything extra. We don't drink so no liquor charges and we bring our own soda. Always love eating in the Main Dining Room, no charge there. Don't use spa. Love having everything unpacked , all you you can eat, transportation not indifferent pots, etc. We are definitely cruising people. Best vacation ever.
I somewhat agree. It is nice waking up somewhere else every morning, but Cruise lines are starting to nickel and dime you. It used to be that almost everything(except alcohol) was included but not anymore. And with the mega ships now you don't see the ocean unless you have balconies. Cruising has changed but maybe not for the better
