Review summary

I am checking my mailbox every day looking for a refund check from Royal Caribbean. I don’t actually think I will receive one, but they know and I know I deserve one. The inexperienced and unexperienced cruiser may have thought this was a vacation of a lifetime. If that is you, I am very happy for you. But one day you will go on a cruise That is done correctly, and at that point you will understand. Please hold your comments until that day comes.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
I am friends with people at the ports in Tampa I was the third one aboard the ship. The rest of the people waited in line like cattle

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
For the most part the food was horrible. Dry and tasteless. There were two days towards the end of the cruise or the wind jammer seemed to step it up and deliver a top-notch product. But five of the seven days were very poorly done in both the wind jammer and the main dining room. Getting food or a snack in the solarium area was an absolute joke. There was a total staffing of one.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
The activities on the boat or disguised as activities but for the most part they just wanted to upsell you something. Such as an art auction, or a jewelry display, or learning acupuncture. Basically there was one show in the evening and there were two days where you could play 30 minutes of bingo for approximately $60

Entertainment

3 out of 5
The performers worked very hard, as does everybody aboard the ship. That does not mean they were first class or that the production was any good, but they did try very hard. I’m sure it’s difficult to go From being a pool boy during the day to being an entertainer at night.

Children's Programs

You

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
My cabin Stewart was excellent. As well as most of the bar staff.

Ship Quality

2 out of 5
This is a 30-year-old ship, who’s better days are behind it. Royal Caribbean needs to mothball it. Any future cruises that they ship takes is nothing more then agreed on the side of Royal Caribbean. Shame on you. Once upon a time you were an elite cruise line. To try to pull this off To experience cruisers such as myself should be viewed as an embarrassment.

Cabin / Stateroom

2 out of 5
It’s a 30-year-old cabin, with 30-year-old design.

Ship tip

It’s a 30-year-old cabin, with 30-year-old design.

Ports of call

Key West, Florida

2 out of 5

Cozumel, Mexico

2 out of 5
Thousands of Mexicans begging you

Belize City, Belize

4 out of 5
This port of call is a hidden gem, if you know where to go and what to do. I do not plan on sharing that, or two will become ruined.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

2 out of 5
Much the same as Cozumel

Disembarkation

2 out of 5
Unorganized cattle drive.

Just wanted to add that art auctions, jewelry displays and various workshops and introductions to services and classes on board the ship seem to be part of each cruise we've been on - yes, they are all part of the up selling. But so is the drink package, specialty dining package, spa package, land excursion packages at each port. But you don't have to buy any of the up selling. The cruiseline's approach is very much like the all inclusive resorts and they always have something 'extra' available for a fee. While we're on the ship we're pretty much part of the captive market at sea unless we choose not to be. Did you also not like the ship's itinerary in addition to not liking the ship?

There have been a few experienced cruisers who have really enjoyed cruising on this ship, even after knowing it was launched in ‘97 they booked anyway. They must have all booked for the itinerary the ship offered on various sailings. I booked a Transatlantic on her for December 2018 because it was a bargain at the price. The Vision Class ships are the next to the smallest in the fleet and among the oldest. They don’t have the same amenities as the bigger ships. Still, I thing the few ports we’ll visit and the laid back days at sea will more than make up for any bells and whistles.

Maybe the refund check will be 30 years old, too?

My best advice is to continue checking your mailbox each and every day for a check that will never arrive!

whats the chances of a 30 year old cabin on a 30 year old ship🤣🤣🤣

Hard to believe it's a 30 year old ship, especially since it was launched in May of 1997

Well at least after all your cruises you have now learned that "activities" like art auctions and jewelry displays are set up for the purpose of selling you things. Now you will never be surprised by them again.

My daughter and son-in-law just returned from a cruise on this ship. They only had one negative comment-the “Anytime Dining”was a bit unorganized. I’m not sure your disappoint was a result of unreasonable expectations. Maybe cursing isn’t for you.

Why are you expecting a refund check?

as an "experienced cruiser" you must have known this was a 30 year old ship google would have told you that also you would know of art auctions jewellery displays and bingo in the afternoon.

I don't know how far back you would have to go to consider Royal Caribbean Elite. I don't even think they're upscale line celebrities is even Elite. If Carnival is the Chevrolet, Royal Caribbean is the Buick. Been that way for long as I've known about them
