Had been excited to finally cruise with Roayal Carribbean. And after the week, even though we had a fabulous time, and below having some excellents in service, still not quite sure we would cruise with them again.
As said below, due to the fact that we were on an older ship, although refurbished, still not the greatest.Even the itinery wasn't the greatest for this particular week,as it didn't go to ketchican, which we liked alot. This week, was just the one that worked the best for our group of seven,so still fine,but....
And the food was below standards for such a hiped up cruise line, seemingly great to cruise with.We were not impressed with The Roayal Carribean reservation line at all.And not impressed with the on and off ship servce either.C!ustomer service and friendlyiness, lacking in both areas!
This being said, this doens't mean it ruined our thoughts on cruising. We are avid cruiser, and always will be.We love it,and all the ships are still beautiful and we still love it.So will continue to find itineries to explore.Just not sure it will be with Royal Carribean!
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
My average rating for this are is based on the food and the accodations in the dining room only.the other things listed for this catagory, were exellent,as far as the dining staff and ambiance. Most excellent all around.but the food in the main dining room was worse then the buffet food. With the amount of money it cost for us to cruise this cruise line, which we had been excited to cruise on,I would expect a better quality of food. And the dining room was cramped and so was the table.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
My rating here is also straight forward. The entertainment put on by the cruise staff, not the cruise directer, but the staff, wasn't the greatest, have seen better. And there were only two nights that had really good professional entertainers.Else wise the other night seemed to be blaw and hard to find. The cruise directer was excellent.Bingo was boring, had better.
Children's Programs
5 out of 5
My rating here is also straight forward as stated. The whold program was excellent. And also had two staf members here go beyond the call of duty for me and my child.Sussie, and speghetti sarah. My child couldnt get enough and we could hardly get her away from them.So excellent.I usually refrain from rating perfect. And she has only been with us on one other cruise. So if I were to rate perfect, this was close!Well, the last little smiley face rating, was the best.so.....
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
My rating here is also straight forward as this catagory states. The onboard staff was excellent in all areas and had lots of people go beyond the call of duty, this includes actually the guy who helped my inlaws to our car when we got back.but on baord, leon, liang, benjermen, all went beyond the call of duy for our group of seven. And will miss these four poeple the most.Service off board,at originall check in,like the last lady to get us to a desk, not the desk crew, but the lady getting us there, ruth, was old and crabby. It took all seven of us to get her to crack a smile. And the agents that checked you on and off the ship all week, were also boarder line rude.
Ship Quality
1 out of 5
My poor rating is based on the fact that this is an old ship and talking about accessibilty. So hope the newer ships are better, and more accessibale. This itinery was to Alaska, which is majority older couples, with lots of ailments that require wheelchairs, walkers and scooters. So with this cruise line knowing that, they should make the ship more accessibale for these things when it was refurbeshed, and it is not at all.The seating in dining areas were cramped for anyone, let alone wheelchairs and sccoters. Not very many chairs without arms to be had in these areas either. So was very had for them to get around. Else whise,it was clean very good, and all shops are still beautiful.Layouts just werent good for the elderly.
Cabin / Stateroom
1 out of 5
My rating here is based on exactly what it says here.It is what it is.The staterooms, even though clean, where smaller then we have ever had,and not very comfertabl for three people, and we had an outside window stateroom available for four people. The shower was the smallest.
I can't say anything bad about this port.We were ingaged here 16years ago,as we live close in washington state, only a three hour fairy, victoria cklipper ride. The resedents here are also so very freindly, cant say enough.love their accents too.
Don't Miss: Don't miss the horse drawn carriage rides, and the double decker hop on hop off bus. Also lots of excellent photo taking oppertunities in victioria all around town.Lots of history here.
Skagway is very picturesc. Also conveinent shopping. We also love this port.
Have done both train rides to the summit and also done the gold mining tour.
we love alaska, and loved the glacier/whale watching tour.Been to alaska four times, and on this tour two other times. So highly recomment this tour.Waling around town is also convenient and close.
