The shore excursions were enjoyable. We got to four cities we had never visited in Mexico, plus Cabo San Lucas, our seventh visit there. Oceania did not live up to the expectations I had. Mainly due to our cabin location on the ship, size of the bathroom and underwhelming specialty restaurant. I may try Oceania again in about ten years when I want less activity on my cruises.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
Check in went smoothly. Only negative was that the ship was docked at a different berth than what was noted on our check in instructions. This resulted in us pulling two suitcases for three blocks.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Main dining room was very good and so was the buffet. The Polo Grill was somewhat disappointing in food quality and speed of service. The Toscana was closed for 8 of the ten nights of the cruise so we did not have the opportunity to dine there. That was a disappointment. Waves Grill did a good job with burgers and sandwiches.
Onboard Activities
2 out of 5
We used the gym and the library but not enough activities to keep us engaged and entertained. The ship is probably better suited for those beyond the age of 70 or folks with mobility issues.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
Musicians and dancers were talented but there were not enough entertainment venues when compared to other ships we have enjoyed.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Staff was dedicated to customer satisfaction and they all had good attitudes.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
Ship was very clean.
Cabin / Stateroom
2 out of 5
Our cabin number was upgraded to a Concierge veranda #6000. It was in the very front of the ship and one floor above the Regatta Theater where entertainment and music was held at night. It was very noisy for 20 minutes before docking and during sail aways. It was also very noisy when there was entertainment in the Regatta Lounge, which was every night and typically until 10:00 PM. We had two days at sea when the seas were rough and the room was bounced around uncomfortably. The bathroom & shower was the smallest we have ever had on a cruise. You had to sit side-saddle on the toilet to use it.
It took a long time to get clearance to disembark the ship. Once we had the okay to leave the ship, the experience at Customs was very good. We did have to wait 10 minutes for a cab and we were the second party in line for a cab.
