Our favorite part of the cruise was the selection of ports we visited. We were able to experience the large cities as well as the small villages that make up the vast Amazon basin.
The ship provided excellent food and service. We were surprised at the average age of guests on this cruise. Most were very old and many had difficulty moving around because of health issues. We hadn't experienced this before on Oceania. We would have preferred a mix of young and old, especially since a number of passengers were coughing and sneezing by the end of the cruise.
We may try a different cruise line next time.

Food and Dining

Specialty restaurants were excellent. The main dining room was also very good.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
There were many activities to choose from.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
Staff provided a special Super Bowl party to view the game. Lounge was decorated and tailgate food was served. Great effort. Staff tried really hard. Shows were okay. Music was geared to older crowd. Late night music was more upbeat but very few were there.
The Cruise Director, Corey, worked hard to entertain.

Ship tip
Check the ports ahead of time. The stops in the Caribbean are easily accessed on your own. No need to buy excursions. Depending on what you want to do that can be true of other stops as well. For example, in Parintins we took a pedi-cab for $20.00 and saw everything there was to see.
Our favorite because it was as close to a real Amazon village as we could get. We loved seeing the children, visiting the school, homes of the villagers, etc.
Didn't stop because of Captain's decision. Had to do with timing of arrival, fast current on river. Not really clear about the "why" but don't think we missed much.
We had a very late flight home and the ship arranged a day tour for us that ended at the airport. It was most appreciated by all who participated especially since it was just prior to Carnaval and Rio was crowded.
For anyone going to Rio, the airport is a disorganized mess. Bring your patience and be prepared to wait in long lines to check in. Even though airline staff were present and lines of passengers were very long, the counter would not open until exactly 5:00pm. Then they didn't want to check in baggage for late flights. After a supervisor was called check in ran smoothly.
