Review summary

We had a nice cruise. Celebrity cruise line is better experience for us overall.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
There is nothing fancy about the terminal. The embarkation process was efficient. We arrived around 10:30 AM and was on the boat within 30 minutes.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

Club 6

4 out of 5

Enjoyed this venue. We stopped here for a while almost every evening. The young adults tended to be here in the evenings. I am older and there were varied ages of the patrons. The bartender Leo is awesome! Only downside is that venue is small. My understanding is that it was made smaller for more casino space.

Allegro Dining Room

4 out of 5

We had a majority of our evening meals here. Seating - There was always a wait of at least five minutes and sometimes longer to be seated. They appeared to be working through growing pains with a new seating system. This got better as the week progressed. We were always seated at a different table with a different waiter. We personally prefer having the same wait staff as experienced on a competing line. Having the same waiter builds more of a relationship and enhances the experience. Food - The food was good but not great. Waiter service - Allegro service was average. Speed of service was good most nights. Not much personality by this staff.

The Pastry Shop

3 out of 5

The cake was awesome. The coffee/expresso taste was ok. Seems like they could use a better quality expresso. Have many snacks and sandwiches available any time.

Vista Lounge

3 out of 5

I am not a big fan of this venue. Too small for the shows on this cruise. If you are not there early like more than fifteen minutes there might not be seating. This was a problem with early and late shows. There are many seats here that have obstructed views of the stage by poles. Seems like a problem with the venue design. Another issue is lack of supervision by crew staff and other passengers standing because of lack of seats and further obstructing views.

Sabatini's Italian Trattoria

5 out of 5

The food and service were excellent. Highly recommend.

Crooner's Bar

4 out of 5

One of my favorite bars that we stopped at every night. The bartenders Henry and Jun are excellent and fun. My understanding is this venue on other ships has a piano playing. Not on this ship. You are on the main piazza so you hear that entertainment. We liked the tables by the windows.

Ocean Terrace Seafood Bar

5 out of 5

We did this twice for lunch. The food and staff were excellent. I highly recommend this venue. Ask if you want to change the menus offering. They were very accommodating.

Alfredo's Pizzeria

5 out of 5

Good pizza and service. Was easy eat at without a reservation or wait. Only feedback I have would be to have more pizza options.

Onboard Activities

Trivia fun Fitness center/classes - signup for classes is on a sheet of paper. Not sure when it was made available. Only able to get on waitlist.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Average- the best show was the comedian and magician We are not into the shows that feature opera singing or entertainers playing a violin. This entertainment might be focused on an older audience. The Vista venue for entertainment stinks. Like the Princess Live venue.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
I have mixed feedback here. Room Steward - Edward was great. Bartenders - There are many good bartenders. See my comments for the different venues. Restaurant waiters - I have mixed feedback here. See the venue comments for details. Allegro was average. Sabbatinis was excellent. Crown grill just average.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Some weirdness in the design. Overall a nice ship.

Cabin / Stateroom

Our mini-suite was a nice size. Showing some signs of age.

Ship tip

Arrive early to shows in the Vista lounge!

Ports of call

Belize City, Belize

5 out of 5
Enjoyed the Princess excursion “Lamanai Mayan Ruins, River Boat Safari With Lunch”. The Lamanai site is great to visit seeing multiple ruins/monuments/temples. The baboons howling was neat. You could clearly hear them. The lunch at Ayinha Eco Park was nothing fancy but good. The boat ride is worded like a safari or bird watching experience. The ride up the lagoon is pretty but fast and no real opportunities to bird watch or look for crocodiles. There really is not time. Overall a good excursion to take!

Cozumel, Mexico

4 out of 5
The water where the ship docks is a beautiful blue. We did not take a Princess excursion in Cozumel. Our first stop was for coffee in Cozumel. We took a taxi from the port to Coz Coffee Roasting Co. They roast their beans there. Good coffee and latte. We went to a French bakery next that was nearby on Calle 2 Norte street. I do not remember the name. The pastries were excellent. We made plans directly with Paradise beach. This is a very nice all inclusive beach day. The food and service are excellent!

Galveston, Texas

4 out of 5
The cruise terminal is nothing fancy but functional and efficient. We have visited Galveston many times in the past. Many good restaurants and hotels.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Thought disembarkation was efficient. The personnel worked hard to be fast. We walked off with our luggage.
