Just what we expected while on the ship. Disappointed in our day in early and stay a day later experience. Princess has done better. I love the New England Cruise and hope to do an extended one in two years up further into Canada.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
We were booked on airfare and hotel in downtown Manhattan thru Princess. To get from Airport to hotel and then back to the ship was confusing and disorganized. We were so disappointed that we were not taken to the ship until almost 2pm. We missed lunch on the ship and many of the activities we had hoped to do. We asked about the timing and were told numerous times “no one knows”. The actual embarkation to get on the ship was a dream with the medallion. Walked straight on and into our room. Luggage never arrived until after we left port.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
The appearance of the ship was gorgeous. Cooper made the bar experience delightful, as did the music of various entertainers. Food was good, healthy and safe. We were not into fancy meals and this met our needs well.
Onboard Activities
2 out of 5
Did not use except the walking deck.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
Shows with dancers and singers were second to none! Very well done.
Children's Programs
No children with us.Ruby
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Ruby was outstanding and a delight. As was Cooper in the bar. I would give them a 10 if I could. The buffet waiters were very nice but uninformed on where the gluten free bread was each morning. It seemed to move. Pool staff and Piazza bar staff were delightful. Anytime dining room staff were stiff and rote. They said the right thing but there was no personality behind their words.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
Everything was beautifully maintained. So much so that I complimented one of the “hall dusting persons” on how beautiful his work looked.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
It was exactly what we had hoped for. Comfortable, clean, warm, quiet.
Ship tip
Get the medallion and leave your purse in the safe. So free feeling not to keep checking for wallet, keys or credit cards.
Was an hour drive from the airport to hotel, hour drive to dock using Princess cruise reservations/flights. Won’t do that again. Loved the experience of NY but not our cup of tea.
We are not big city people and we tried the hop on hop off bus hoping to go to Cambridge. Too much traffic so they skipped that stop. We walked some of the other stops and then wandered back to the ship via Chinatown. We’ve done Boston several times before so skipped the historical stuff.
Loved the free buses up into Acadia park. Park rangers gave us great instructions on the free buses and the hike along the sea shore. Thunder hole was delightful.
Maritime museum and wandering around the city. Was impressed with their appreciation of their war participants either overseas or holding down the fort at home.
Easy, direct and organized until it was time to find our bus to NY city. Poor signs at that point. Waited 30 minutes on the bus for a person who was already sitting on the bus but no Princess personal thought to ask.
