Review summary

Overall a good cruise experience -- we loved all the ports-of-call on this cruise...amazing cities. Regal Princess is nice boat in good shape overall...and the quality of food/service in the restaurants is top notch. My biggest complaint is that services pertaining to the upgrades that usually accompany purchasing a suite were sorely lacking: no spa access, so sanctuary access, room service "specials" were pretty basic, disembarkation process was sorely lacking -- we had to carry our own suitcases because we didn't want to get off with the hordes...which would never have happened as a suite purchaser with Norwegian...who had a special disembarkation process for suites, etc. I will likely stick with Norwegian in the future...whenver I splurge for a suite...or go for Viking or other more upscale provider. Suite pricing and service on Princess not worth it.

Food and Dining

restaurants were generally good -- the main buffet was uninspiring and always packed with people running around like crazy. we stayed away.

Onboard Activities

When you book one of the top suites you should get access to the Sanctuary and Spa...this cruise had neither available without payment. The pool and area of the Sanctuary was completely empty for the most part of the cruise. what a waste of space and a lost opportunity to treat suite guests better. the spa also was non-existent compared to a similar sized boat with Norwegian that we did last year.

Service and Staff

Restaurant staff was generally really nice and helpful. Top vote goes to the "Club class" dining area (for suite and platinum) where the waiters were truly excellent...remembering your wine from the night before and what you ordered...otherwise the service in the room itself was ok but our room steward did not have much to say or offer (recommended talking to others whenever we asked him a question...) again..Norwegian similar suite service came with a REAL butler (!) who brought food and wine and was always available to answer questions etc.

Berlin is a great city...but taking a long, hot train and bus to get there and back is way too much for one day.
