Wonderful cruise experience in Australia by zmarvelle

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: South Pacific - Australia

This was truly a wonderful cruise, with great ports of call. A dive at the Great Barrier Reef, a trip up into a rain forest and the best zoo experience ever were just some of the highlights of this trip for us! The ship is beautiful, and the staff, food and evening entertainment were excellent. Definitely a trip to remember!!!

Good but not great. by IndyRon

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: South Pacific - Australia

Radiance is a very comfortable ship. Wife and I enjoyed a Jr. suite. The pros were the suite (very large and comfortable), the speciality restaurants particularly Chops and Giovanni's. Steaks and service was excellent in Chops and lamb, pastas and service was likewise excellent in Giovanni's. Grand Buffet was a bit better than average with standard fare. Lunch in dining room very good with an exceptional salad bar. Boot camp in ShipShape center was very good. Trainer Patrick was excellent! Overall ship was in good shape and crew exceptionally friendly. The cons---entertainement was a bust, below average except for mentalist. Too many sea days (5 in all on a 10 nighter) without any enrichment offerings. Adult beverages were very expensive for very small pours. Our original excursion to Great Barrier Reef was canceled and no options offered. Only by the "grapevine" did we find out that another excursion was added at next port. Very poorly handled by staff.

Royal Caribbean Australia Cruise by ekmurphy

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: South Pacific - Australia

Overall, we enjoyed this Cruise.  However, there were some issues.  I really think Royal Caribbean needs to put some more time and planning in the shore excursions, especially in Cairns, Port Hedland and Darwin

Our cabin needed some updating, but was okay.

We did enjoy meeting and talking to the Australians we met at meals and other sites on the ship.

The wait staff and room steward were great.

Vallieu Review by vallieukb

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: South Pacific - Australia

First of all, the ship's atmosphere was tense due to the sanitation issues from the previous cruise....being served at the buffet and always being reminded of the health concerns was stressful.  The staff was polite and efficient but overall there was a cloud of heaviness.  The captain was personable and available which is a positive.   The cruise director was fake - really did not have an engaging personality as he introduced the performers....sounded rote rather than real.  Other cruises I have been on had cruise directors who were cheerleaders and fun......

Room Steward was pleasant, efficient, personable.....Food was OK.....took the galley tour and got ill the next day so don't know for sure what that was about but lost a day at the reef?????

Griffith Family Vacation by Griffiths

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: South Pacific - Australia

We really enjoyed the our vacation on Royal Caribbean. We were amazed at how outgoing and friendly the staff.  Our kids loved every minute of kids club. The staff in Kids Club was exceptional ... especially Ms. Jasmine.  The My Dining experience with Mr. Putu and Mr. Sudira was 20 out of 10.  Each day they catered to our needs and provided exceptional customer service and care.  We also really enjoyed all of the activities available on the ship.

Very enjoyable cruise by donulm

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: South Pacific

The Pacific crossing had more rough seas then the Atlantic crossings we have made, but was still very enjoyable. We don't know if that is normal.  Service was it's usual very good and the food was good, we may have had better on our previous cruises.  We are Diamond members and our Concierge in the club, Sulin, was exceptional.  He cheerfully took care of all our on board appointments and even went online and got our visas for Australia, the need of which we were not made aware of by . We use My Time Dining, by the end of the trip we had a table of 10 that were new good friends and very enjoyable.

Family reunion cruise by sharondsykes

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

We all had a great time on the cruise but I was disappointed that we did not sit in closer proximity in the dining room.  We were so spread out that we could not converse with one another and it was more difficult to switch tables so all would get to know one another. Other than that, it was great.

Overall great time on this cruise by doreenb1666

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

staff were great, stateroom very clean. service in dinning room fantastic, food excellent. The first stop Icy Straight not very good. We were not impressed. The rest of the stops were great , especially the ice fields. We thought the price for pop a day at $22.00 a day was outrageous. Friends went on the Princes cruise their price was $22.00 a week. Overall we had a great time.

Relaxing Alaskan cruise by thompsonsldba

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Took the 7 day cruise Vancouver to Vancouver and loved every minute of it. It was the ship's final trip to Alaska this season, heading to Australia for winter. Used my time dining and sat in the same area every night with the same waiters and even the same guests around us.  Enjoyed trying to teach the Headwaiter about American chili-con-carne, and he even had one of the cooks make up a bowl for me when I told him I was homesick for some good chili (I'm from Texas). This was our second time on the ship to Alaska, so we had seen the sights before and were more interested in relaxing. The Champagne bar bartender was great in mixing almost anything I could ask for, and we had several great "tastings" at the bar to include martinis, port, whiskey, champagne and wine. This is definitely a ship I would cruise again (already booked on trip from Australia back to Hawaii, 18 days). Just wish the same crew would be around. However, this was my third Royal Caribbean cruise, and the crew has always been outstanding.  I will continue to cruise with RC.

Spectacular by nkrudolph

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

This Alaskan cruise was awesome.  The scenery was spectacular.  The inside passage was serene.  I saw a pair of baby Orcas dive under the ship.  I saw some Orca tails and blow spots.  We hiked in Juneau and Skagway.  We enjoyed the grand dining room and service on board.

Excellent Alaslan Tour by melkonarik

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

The ship was delayed into port by 7 hours. The delay had us boarding at 8:30 pm, dining room closed, Windjammer closing down, so little dinner before muster at 9:30pm.  Bad start to our dream cruise. No accommodation for our cruise time and dinner lost.  The remainder of the cruise went smoothly.

Great Ports of Call Itinerary compared to others by morenita1024

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

As a younger couple the actual in cruise activities lacked for though the Royal Caribbean aims to promote an experience for all ages many guest were of the older age groups so the daily compass activities ended around 10:30p. We also found that the "24hr solarium pool and exterior pool/jacuzzi" also closed for cleaning at 11p for up to 5 hrs at night which was very disappointing.  The best part of the whole cruise was the port of calls scheduled for each day allowed us to really explore different areas of Alaska to the max.  This is in comparison to other cruise lines with just two or three stops or that do round trip departure/destination voyages.  Having been on other Royal Caribbean cruises before this one fell a bit short for the inside cruising experience.  Though I can attest to this not being a norm cruising experience for the others trips have been top notch.

Dream Alaska Vacation by jlpreskitt

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

My husband and I sailed with Royal Caribbean, on Radiance of the Seas to Alaska for seven nights. We had the most wonderful vacation one could ever hope for. Every aspect of the trip was simply perfect. The ship was beautiful, looked as pretty as the photos! Our room was adorable, plenty of storage room, separate bathroom, awesome balcony (a must)! Our steward kept our room spotless and made adorable towel pets for us. The staff all over the ship were more than attentive, saw to our every need.  We ate at Cascades, the main dinning room and had a ball. The servers entertained us almost every night, it was so much fun.  The food was unbelievable...delicious, beautiful, and plenty of it. Our personal servers outdid themselves for us constantly!  We thoroughly enjoyed the casino, delicious drinks, and fun for all.  Who plays putt-putt golf on a cruise ship...we did!  The "Centrum" was the heartbeat of the ship, and it was always rockin'! Singing, dancing, and games with lots of audience participation, One word to sum up our cruise on the Radiance would have to be "HAPPY"! Thank you Royal Caribbean from The Preskitts!!

Exceptional Service on Radiance of the Seas by lamchugh72

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

My husband and I are not avid cruisers, however, we were invited to join friends who are avid cruisers and repeat customers with Royal Caribbean's Inland Passage Cruise.  Two factors, stand out....the service staff members are exceptionally trained, conversant, friendly and endearing.  And secondly, the ship is impeccably maintained. Every inch is spic and span at all times.  Navin and Willy were our waiters for the week and performed their responsibilities seamlessly.  Delightful, both of them.  Our room was sufficient in size, the bed comfortable and our room attendant, Jaya, was terrific. I would recommend this ship to anyone.

it was ok by sjm27164

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

The shows are sub par.  Felt like I was watching a High school musical.  No food after midnight unless you pay for room service.  The bartenders at the pool were not very friendly.  Should sell bathing suits

Fabulous experience by vcocianni

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

This cruise was excellent even for folks that are not great outdoors people. The ship is great and the crew were fantastic. I would definitely recommend it. My only suggestion is to plan to arrive a day early and leave the day after you dock in Seward to avoid the stress of almost missing the boat or the return flights.
