Royal Caribbean Australia Cruise

Sail Date: November 17, 2015

Reviewed: 10 months ago

Traveled As: Large Group

Room Type: Balcony

Overall, we enjoyed this Cruise.  However, there were some issues.  I really think Royal Caribbean needs to put some more time and planning in the shore excursions, especially in Cairns, Port Hedland and Darwin

Our cabin needed some updating, but was okay.

We did enjoy meeting and talking to the Australians we met at meals and other sites on the ship.

The wait staff and room steward were great.

Cabin / Stateroom
The cabin itself was okay. The thermostat did not work and the room was always cold. (and this was a hot weather trip) Fortunately, our cabin steward gave us extra blankets. The mattress and carpet have seem better days.
Embarkation and Disembarkation
Other that the fact that we couldn't get into the rooms in a timely fashion due to the sanitation process, the in and off processes were okay.
Ship Quality
This ship definitely need some upgrades. The thermostat in our room did not work. It was
COLD all the time. The mattress needed replacing. The rug needed replacing.
Destinations and Excursions
We enjoyed our shore excursions. However, they were over priced and did not seem well planned. The Darwin "River Eco Cruise" was pretty lame. The organization of the Barrier Reef excursion was Poor. The tendering was poorly planned.
Onboard Activities
Mediocre, at best.
Service and Staff
They were excellent. The dining room pair were fun. We really liked them. Our room steward was great.
Food and Dining The wait staff was wonderful and made us want to come back to the dining room. However, the food was very so-so.
Geraldton, Australia
Port Hedland, Australia
We did not take the ONE tour offered and perhaps should have. I think this town really made an effort to be welcoming, but the cruise line just did not spend the time planning additional tours.
Benoa, Bali, Indonesia
Very interesting tour.
Darwin, Australia
Should just drop the River Eco Cruise part of the Territory Wildlife Park and Eco Cruise tour. The Wildlife Park was fun.
Cairns, Australia I did the Barrier Reef. I really think that some thought needs to go into this port. There should be options for the Barrier Reef. The tour I took was not well presented in the brochure.
Brisbane, Australia

The cruise line should put its emphasis on the main dining room food rather that trying to make more money with putting the special food in the specialty restaurants.
