Beautiful Alaska scenery by srtgsm

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

Not sure we will travel with this cruise line again. Disappointed on several issues. The biggest being "hounded" by staff at every turn to purchase a special drink or dinner package...seriously! The accounting department has become more creative in trying to generate revenue for items that should be included in your fare...such as wine/beer/soda with dinner and wifi. By the time we finished our cruise, the cost nearly doubled. I could have gone with a different company that charges more but includes speciality coffee, speciality dining, beer-wine with lunch and dinner, free wifi, and an included excursion with every port. Perhaps having tiers of cruise prices such as bargain basement vs all inclusive. At least you'd have a better idea of what you were getting yourself into....

Not What I Expected by Nelipot

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

The cruise staff do not tell you while you are booking (or even later), that the weather may be miserable nor do they let you know that a lot of places are still closed due to snow in May and up to mid June where everything is open and the salmon are running. It would have been nice to know this. Land/sea tour does not give you enough time to review your cruise on Royal Caribbean as they only give you about 5 days to review after the end of the cruise. Juneau is very spread out geographically. Be aware that the whale watching tours keep you at least 100 yards away and so you will need binoculars and zoom lens. Overall, not happy with the lack of information given for planning and spending thousands of dollars.

An amazing Hawaiian Cruise by jallen56

LeeAnn puts together an amazing package for our group. Everything was great from boarding the airplane to boarding the ship including our place together in the dining room and even our trip back home.

Very good long journey by hafkey333

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Transpacific

Great cruise, but very long with 12 days at sea and one day of 20-26 foot waves in the Pacific. We were ready to get off the boat after a day of 20-26 foot waves. Mr toads wild ride. Our highlight was snorkeling with the humpback mama and baby in Tahiti, and the all day jetski/atv adventure in Moorea.

LOVED IT... NOW PLANNING A RETURN TRIP, IN THE SAME EXACT MANNER!! The only thing that would have made it better would have been the 3am sunrise tour to The Summit, Haleakala!!

Great way to get a taste of Alaska! by lsands12760743

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

Good way to see Alaska in a quick and organized fashion. Loved the ports. Loved Alaska. Would love to go back and we would take a cruise again if we go. The spa and entertainment were the only areas I would have rated anything less than a 3. The spa and the entertainment were a 2. The rest of the cruise was a 5.

Ship's staterooms need updateing bad! by emmylam711

Itinerary ok, but ship was out of date, and weather rainy most of the days. We had a much enjoyable time last time we cruise the Inland Passage, perhaps over 20 years ago.

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

It was a wonderful and a memorable cruise. We touched at the best ports in Alaska. The ship was clean, staff very friendly. And there was plenty of activities on board to keep us busy

First cruise by NDakotacruiser

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

Very enjoyable.  I was impressed by the captain and his staff during our interactions.  Some of the entertainment was average. Overall I would recommend the cruise and many of the excursions we took (whale watching, fishing, flight to a fjord, Denali).

Alaska Adventure Bucket List - CHECK! by nancy97703847

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

Taking this adventure with friends and family made this trip extra special.  I've been on several cruises with large groups and having just the 6 of us I really enjoyed quality time with them.  I would recommend always traveling with 1 to 2 couples, I don't think I would enjoy this kind of adventure as much if others were not along to share with.  Our stateroom attendant, Cristian did a fabulous job and took care of our needs, we really appreciate him.  Franc and Elmer our My Time Dining table service team were fun, efficient, excellent service.  We hated to say goodbye would have loved to stay in contact with these two guys they were great!  Our excursion stops were breath taking, the terrain of Alaska . . . I had no idea of the beauty, I thought Tennessee was beautiful but when flying back home opening the plane window was shocking of the environment change.  When planning my trip I generally purchase the alcohol package but I thought the price that Royal Caribbean charged was excessive and now having a soft drink package too, when does the charges stop?  I would like to see less push of sales of items, i.e. Diamonds International, it was a bit of overkill.  All and all our trip was fantastic and I don't think I would change a thing about Royal Caribbean stay.

ports good, ship a little dated. not happy with the stateroom.  the

transfer to the airport was good. the train from Anchorage to

Seward was fabulous, it would have been nice to have more information about the train, like we would take the bus from Egan Ctr to the airport train terminal.

Great Time in Alaska! by BearLover

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

Overall we had a great time - in and off the ship.  All of the staff were very nice and did a great job!  Two things made the cruise feel 'cheap'; 1) when we got on the ship there were people pushing dinner packages for the 'non-free restaurants', beverage packages, and booking your next cruise etc - people have just traveled a long way and then are bombarded with all this.... 2) the focus/advertising throughout the cruise on shopping in and off the ship, including a booth set up with gold chain being sold by off spools/rolls!   The formal night attire was not enforced in the restaurants so they didn't feel like the 'special evenings' as they should.  TV in the room was not very good - lots of repeat shows and no movie channel as listed.  The food in the Cascades restaurant was just OK, the food at the Windjammer buffet was better (especially the Indian food) and you have the advantage of a selection so you can find something good to eat!  Had a good steak at the steakhouse restaurant.  All of the restaurants listed were not actually open/on the ship - was a little confusing.  The entertainment on the ship was just OK.  The movie theater was small and there were several seats with no seats. The outdoor pool, golf and climbing wall were not options due to the weather.  Our balcony room was nice.  The length of time at each port was a good amount of time, unlike other cruises we have been on. There was 1 man working at the guest services desk that in our opinion did not speak English well enough for the position.  Again, overall we had a great time and all of the staff did a great job!

Southbound Cruise from Seward on Radiance of the Seas by DJE46

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed this cruise.  The ports were great and the cruise to Hubbard Glacier was one of the highlights of our trip.  There was plenty to do on the ship.  Lots of activities and good entertainment.  The staff was very friendly and helpful.  Perhaps the only negative is that the furniture in the stateroom was starting to get a bit worn.  But, overall the trip was well worth it.

Overall a great experience! by bignacki

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

With the exception of an impressionist that was so disrespectful towards our president that we walked out of his show, and one bad tour guide, this cruise was amazing!  A special shout out to my servers - Jana and John for making my dining experience the best we have ever had on a cruise ship! Interesting stops and fun activities (like trivia games and name that song competitions).  Overall a great experience!Big Smile
