Review summary

This was my first cruise with Royal Caribbean and I will look to them first when planning my next vacation. Great Job Royal!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Once we were in Royal territory, the check-in and boarding process was the most efficient and fastest I've experienced yet.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Main Dining and Buffet were better than any of the cruises we've taken before. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and selection of food. The staff ws wonderful !

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Rock wall and putt-putt were fun and never crowded. The pools were small, but not too crowded. The pool bars could use another bartender during peak hours to handle the rush.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Shows were wonderful. Music was varied and musicians were placed throughout the ship.

Children's Programs

I didn't bring kids

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The service and staff were excellent!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship was clean and well taken care of, despite it's age. Staff was constantly on the move taking care of housekeeping and surface cleaning around the ship.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Cabin was the size of a decent hotel room. I would recommend this room to anyone. Only one floor below the buffet and pools. There was some noise at night from staff moving chairs across the deck, but wasn't enough to disturb our sleep. The walls are thin though, and we could hear the guests next door coughing at night.

Ship tip

Spring for the suites/balconies.

Ports of call

New Orleans, Louisiana

1 out of 5
New Orleans Julia Street port is a train wreck. Entrance to parking was closed and we were detoured a mile back to where we entered the port. The traffic flow was horrible, very little signage, people guessing and cutting into traffic. Traffic cops were of little help and just kept waving people through, getting annoyed if you asked a question. The parking garage was full not even halfway through the boarding time slots. I won't leave out of that port again.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

5 out of 5
Beautiful port and enjoyed our excursion/guide. Mayan ruins are a must-see.

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
As always, Cozumel has much to do. Dune Buggy Beach excursion was great!

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Fast and easy. We picked up our bags with very little wait time (just a few minutes) and breezed through customs.
