Review summary

Thoroughly enjoyed the experience! Don’t let the ships condition or the constant RC up sell the first several days bother you!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
RC has it down! Smooth embarkation process

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
RC always provide excellent food in their “free” dining venues but it costs extra to get their higher class restaurants. This is fine but I don’t like the constant up-selling throughout the cruise for their specialty cuisine.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Excellent fitness center - a must for me! Also the miniature golf, ping pong and shuffle board were in excellent condition. I didn’t use the pools but they looked also in good condition.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
I traditionally look forward to the RC stage shows and other performers. As is always the case the RC orchestra were outstanding! The Piano Man show was awesome! I think the Tango show needs more work. I’m not sure the leading man is ready for the lead although the leading lady dancer was superb. One of the Australian comedians was offensive but the rest of the headliners were excellent. Our cruise was fortunate to have a 300-member college marching band from Wisconsin perform - truly awesome!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
I don’t know how they do it but RC always recruits and trains the best service people!

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Everyone is aware that this ship needs an overhaul and it’s scheduled for this spring! The crew has managed for too long to keep “old” clean!

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Great room Stewart! Spacious balcony room. Sometimes the hot water in the shower was cool.

Ship tip

Enjoy the sailing and accept the ship condition as the overhaul is coming!

Ports of call

Port Chalmers (Dunedin), New Zealand

We took the optional 2-day excursion to Queensland and bypassed these 2 stops. We did not make this stop

Cruise Milford Sound

5 out of 5
We took the 2-day excursion via Queensland — totally awesome! Expensive but worth it. Great local tour guide and bus driver and RC excursion manager! Hint- the local Queensland Ramada hotel has individual washer/dryers in each room! Bring your dirty clothes!

Sydney, Australia

Did touring on our own. Highly recommend getting tickets for the play, “Six” at the Sydney Opera house! It recently arrived from London’s West End!

Disembarkation

I left a luggage piece in the debarkation warehouse but a RC contractor tracked us down before we boarded the bus and connected us with our suitcase - a huge savior!
