Review summary

Alaska is everything people describe and worth the money and time. Radiance was good, fine, just not great. I think that Royal Caribbean needs to re-focus on food quality and the dining experience. They are still doing 'service' right!

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Arrived near the deadline so lines were very short and state rooms were open

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Food was okay but not great. It seems to me that Royal Caribbean has cut costs on quality and quantity of food served in the dining rooms. Compared to earlier years this was a bit of a disappointment.

Onboard Activities

Entertainment

5 out of 5
High quality shows and entertainers!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
I love the service-oriented staff -- strong service culture on this line!

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
This ship is very nice but showing a little bit of wear and tear.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We went 'cheap' on the cabin and were assigned a handicapped room -- which is double the size of a normal state room in almost every respect. While it was an interior room with no view, the space was awesome and we loved it!

Ship tip

Get out on deck during this cruise once you are in the inside passage as there were many whale and dolphin sightings ... and most people missed these "free" excursions.

Ports of call

Vancouver (Canada Place), British Columbia

5 out of 5
Definitely get out to the Capilano suspension bridge and park -- beautiful place and even has a free shuttle. We arrived early and had a terrific time!

Ketchikan, Alaska

4 out of 5
Beautiful port and great for eco-tourism. We enjoyed kayaking!

Icy Strait Point (Hoonah), Alaska

5 out of 5
Bears, bears & bears!!!!!!! Probably our most enjoyable excursion.

Juneau, Alaska

Only 'good' for us due to rainy weather. Could hardly see the Mendenhall Glacier in those conditions.

Skagway, Alaska

5 out of 5
Beautiful place and we loved getting up into Yukon (not on the train).
