Review summary

An Alaskan cruise is generally expensive. The ports per-se are not much. The quality of your trip will depend on excusions. The country is beautiful so get out there.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Very smooth. Some of the most professional staff we met on the trip.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
We thought the food was pretty good and the service tended to be pretty good. Staff at the buffet was inconsistent. We bought premium beverage package, but only drank soft drinks at the buffett. They should make it self-serve or something as it was an inconvenience to present our drink card.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
The only thing we did was a couple of shows. They were pretty good.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
The service tended to be inconsistent. Simply not great. They need more staff and/or equipment at the coffee bar as it was often backed up.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship was VERY clean.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The cabin was very clean. Enough room for two people. I kept my suitcase packed and under the bed. My wife unpacked and pretty much filled the storage. It worked well. The balcony was quite large, but people could look into your balcony from theirs. It was not a problem as we were surrounded by adults. We kept the high-quality sliding door open a lot as the weather was beautiful for our trip. Shower was small but workable. Plenty of counter space. No odors, as is sometime reported on some ships. Plenty of lights. Only one outlet in the cabin and one in the bath.

Ship tip

The cruise line does not allow outlet strips. So, bring a multi-port USB charger for your phones. The Wifi is very slow and difficult if you have to work. Do excursions because the shopping is the same in every port.

Icy Strait Point (Hoonah), Alaska

5 out of 5
Icy Strait Point is pretty much a made-for-cruise spot. We did not like it. We walked about 1.5 miles to Hoonah (there is also a shuttle). Hoonah is NOT a cruise port but a working small commercial port. We really enjoyed the crab lunch at The Office. It is a local bar that gets some tourist traffic. If you stop at Icy Strait Point, head right to Hoohah.
