Review summary

Carnival cruise lines is always getting a bad rap, but compared to our recent cruise on RC, I think Carnival wins in my opinion. Our ship was beautiful with nice features and options, but dining options outside of specialty dining was limited in scope and time availability. And the service lacked warmth and feeling. I've never felt less pampered on a cruise. Overall, a good experience. But my first choice for my next cruise is Carnival. Guy's Burger Joint, 24-hour pizza and ice cream, and happier employees. RC needs to step up their game.

I would say our evening meal in the dining room was exceptional, but I didn't care for My Time Dining. I enjoy getting to know people and servers, not mixing it up every night. Room service incurs a charge, unless it's for the continental breakfast. Ridiculous! The Windjammer looked nice, but their hours were short and even halfway through lunch they were clearing stations and not restocking. The food was a huge disappointment on this cruise and cruise line.

Our room steward seemed annoyed by us. We rarely got towel animals and didn't feel pampered or special in any way. The dining room staff was great, but with different people helping us each night, it was hard to get attached.

Curious. We had My time dining and had the same waiters, and even the same table mates every night. My wife and I sat at a two top with other “two top couples” every night. We were sad about the room service charge and just hit windjammer. I’m not a fan of buffets, so it was just ok.
