Review summary

I would recommend this cruise to anyone who loves nature. The ship is very comfortable for multi-generations traveling together as well as other adults. My group was six professional women, and we felt very comfortable onboard. It is not really a party, party ship - it is a very fun adult fun ship which I liked. I had great time!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

The Cascade dining always was very good. Windjammer was typical buffet fare with some of it, particularly the Indian dishes, very good. The Chops restaurant was very nice.

Onboard Activities

Loved The Upscale Duo for music! Also the concluding party was a lot of fun. Had a great time in the game room playing Scrabble, and enjoyed the peace of the library. Finally, the steam room was so relaxing. At that time, it was a bit too cold and windy for me to use the upper deck track for exercise.

I took away one star because the windows were not clean. We did go through a rough patch one evening, and the salt water could have been the issue. But, for scenery that spectacular, the cleanest windows possible would have been ideal.

Ship tip

I would highly recommend the second deck, near and beyond the second set of cabins beyond the elevator bank. The cabins were quiet, and on the outer side (we had a porthole), there was a little bit of the ocean sound. Also, the porthole gives you great light which I really miss in inside cabins. And it also helps to experience the long days of Alaska. Finally, I liked the second deck in particular because it made for an easy off-board and onboard on excursion days. No lines for the elevator!

Not much there, but I appreciated the free town shuttle. Everything in the town was close enough to walk to, but it was raining that day.

Juneau, Alaska

Great lunch options there. Also this was the spot for our whale watching trip and Mendenhall Glacier. Saw lots of whales!

Skagway, Alaska

Beautiful town with lots of history!

Icy Strait Point (Hoonah), Alaska

Sort of a tourist trap stop, but the people were really friendly and there are a couple of really great artists there.

Ketchikan, Alaska

Very cute town. Lots of bald eagle, totems, porpoises, mink when on a water tour.

Vancouver (Canada Place), British Columbia

Vancouver is a very nice city. I have been here for work many times, but it was nice to be a tourist to see more of how folks live and play here. Really enjoyed my time in the city over the last few days.
