Queen Anne

14 Night The Canary Islands (Southampton Roundtrip)

Sail date: November 03, 2024

Ship: Queen Anne

Traveled as: Singles/Friends

Reviewed: 1 month ago

Review summary

Stunning ship, first class service and excellent food. There was good attention to detail throughout. This is a bit different from other Cunard ships, so put your expectations to one side.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
The process was quick and easy, and staff were helpful and friendly. The only niggle was the very long walkway, but that was put in place by port staff rather than Cunard.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Delicious food. Good range for my dietary needs (gluten and lactose free). The main dining room was beautiful. Service was quickly, friendly and efficient and there was a good range of menu choices. The buffet was excellent with good choices and a separate counter for dietary needs. Some counters closed a bit early. Buffet was not open 24/7 but you can get room service at all hours. Service was slow and chaotic in the Wellness cafe.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
The gym was well equipped and largely empty. Good games room with a excellent selection of games. The library was well stocked, and there was a good range of deck games including pickleball. There were no novelty activities like climbing walls, but it is not that kind of ship. Only two pools, but they were not very busy so you could get in easily.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Good quality entertainment in the main theatre and pub. There was an excellent Irish folk duo that we went to see on several nights. Some poor cruise style singing in a couple of venues, but you can never escape that entirely.

Children's Programs

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
The staff were unfailingly, polite, friendly and did their best to make the holiday special. The best service I've had on any cruise - I've been with a couple of other companies before.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Beautiful art deco design with a modern twist. Very clean and fresh looking throughout. Toilets very clean and well serviced. Some difficulties navigating and signage could be clearer.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Beautiful design and well equipped balcony cabin with a safe, large TV, coffee table and fridge. There was also a large walk in shower with a proper screen rather than a curtain. There was a decent but not large amount of hanging space. Extremely comfortable beds and tbe air con worked well. The cabin and bathroom were quite small though, so a very big person would struggle.

Ship tip

Avoid the games room when the bridge lessons are on. The instructor made it clear that he did not like other people, playing games other games during his session!

Disembarkation

Quick and well organised. Just got off and didn't wait for our designated time, but the luggage was ready and easy to find.

Surprised you basically gave only 3 stars for each category on the ship when most of your reports suggested close to excellence.
