Review summary

This was a great cruise when you do excursions that get you into the area more. We enjoy Royal Caribbean because of the live entertainment all over the ship.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Jamie's Italian specialty restaurant was awesome. Family style with plenty of food.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
The Quantum of the Seas has several pools with one being indoors, which is really nice on an Alaskan cruise. The rock climbing wall was great, but not able to stay open some of the days due to wet, rainy weather. Bumper cars on the ship was fantastic.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Compared to other Royal Caribbean ships, some of the shows were a disappointment. I prefer am opening show to be one that "wows" you and is family friendly.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The staff was friendly and helpful. The main dining room staff was excellent.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship was kept very clean.

Cabin / Stateroom

We have loved having a balcony! The storage space in the room was incredible compared to other ships we have traveled. Overhead cabinets, storing luggage under the bed, etc.

Ship tip

Bring adequate warm clothing for an Alaskan itinerary!

Ketchikan, Alaska

We did the Lumberjack show and really enjoyed it. Make sure you go to Creek Street. Interesting history and beautiful view of the creek. Also, make sure you walk the creek until you see the fish ladder.

Sitka, Alaska

You have to take a shuttle to get to town. We walked along the marina to the national park where we saw several different totem poles. We also did a tour that took us to the bear reserve, which was really nice. They had both brown and black bears.

CRUISE ENDICOTT ARM & DAWES GLACIER

Unfortunately the ship was not able to get into the bay where the glacier is located.

Nice port. We did a river rafting excursion that was really fun and a good workout for the paddlers. We saw the Mendenhall Glacier and waterfall by the lake which was really cool.

Victoria, British Columbia

This is a pretty city but you have to pay for the shuttles or walk a ways into the city center. If you walk, you will want to walk by the water when you get a chance as there are several houses on the water in the harbor. We did not do an excursion but the taxi did take us through the park and showed us a few local scenes.
