Review summary
We weren't sure about doing a Trans Atlantic cruise...but we're very pleased that we did. 9 days at sea were very relaxing, we met some terrific people (from ALL over the world).
We were very sad to see the Prinsendam was being sold....we like the smaller cruise boats.

Ship tip
Make it fast, as sadly the Prinsendam has been sold.....
Yes we did an excursion / it was great.
We had 2 days in Port so we did tours on both days. Our tour guide on day 1 - Gerry was very knowledgeable. We rode the cable car to Monte & came down in the Whicker basket. 👍😎we also visited the panoramic view of Funchal Bay from Pico dos Barcelos. Returned to Funchal for Madeira wine tasting 😜
DAY 2: Tour to Cabo Girao (the tallest sea cliff in Europe). Stopped at the lovely fishing village of Camara de Lobos (made famous by Sir Winston Churchill - he painted the village). After this we went to the glorious Reids Palavr for a sumptuous high tea - most enjoyable day.
Headed South to San Antonio Volcano Vidotors Centre. Magnificent views. We also visited a local wine cellar for 2 tastings & then stopped at an Aboriginal ceramic & Handicraft Workshop - fabulous gardens.
Visited the incredible cactus gardens of Cesar Manrique.... Unbelievable. Over 10,000 cacti from all over the world.
We then visited Cesars Home - just beautiful😇
Drove to Tye fort to visit the Berber market of soukInezgane Inezgane. The merchants we're very aggressive....We also visited the Amazigh Museum. Had a drive along the Cornish Boulevarde & a coffee whilst people watching. The school holidays were on .
Visited the Hassan II Mosque (quite spectacular.....😳). Then on to Azemmour village to see the square & the fortifications.
Visited El Jadida to see the incredible water cisterns👍
