Great Cruise! by Nashmn

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America

The ship was super clean and in great conditions, food at buffet and main restaurants was delicious, wings and fish & chips at Cadillac yumi!! Even that they were under staff, the majority of crew members were happy to help you and talk to you! Great bar tenders at John Adams Bar: Cody and Sarah!

Average at Best by jhawk3450

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

Although NCL Pride of America was a disappointment (price/food/service below par), still the best way to see the islands (from a cost point of view).

Pride of America September 3, 2022 by Adriah

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Pride of America

The ship is older but has-been well-maintained and upgraded. Tjis is the best way to visit the islands in a short amount of time.

Hawaiian cruise! by hankcent

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America

Cruise was good but sure was disappointed with the bars and the special dining being closed off. No advance notice of that and they even charged more since our last trip.

Floating Hotel by DrHistory

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America

While the flights to and fro were long and painful, the Hawaiian islands and the people were great. With this itinerary, the Pride of America is more like a floating hotel and less like a cruise ship. It lacks the quality entertainment and quality food of many cruise lines. It was great that the ship was only half full so it was never crowded. However, too many of the venues were closed. The pool Bar closing at 6 PM? No bar at the aft pool? The embarkation process was slow, with much sitting and waiting. Debarkation was more efficient. The cabins were available several hours later than common on other cruise lines. The Norwegian app was a total waste of time. The Internet access that was a part of my package disappeared with absolutely no usage. I would have gone to complain but it was easier to just use my cell phone data plan. I enjoyed the small ship that was easier to get around than the modern mega ships. Some of the cruise port were very weird sandwich between cargo lines. That said, the itinerary is great! Excursions were very good. Very expensive but an excellent way to visit Hawaii.

HI family cruise aboard POA 8/27/2022-9/3/2022 by kyraneizmen

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Pride of America

I loved that there was hardly anyone on this cruise. There was no walking around forever trying to find a table to eat on. Not many food or activity options for how much we paid. I never once saw the cruise director anywhere throughout the ship which is weird since they should be everywhere.

Wonderful Hawaii Island Cruise by nancyfitzwater

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

Cruise met my expectations for a dream vacation. Kauai was our favorite island. Don’t book 2 bus tours on same island. They all give you the same info but doesn’t fervent sights.

Absolute Rubbish by roshneil

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

Half of the ship was closed off due to staff shortage. Half the dining and bars were closed. No covid safety protocols whatsoever. Paid a Ferrari price tag and received a bicycle with flat tires in return. Everything in Hawaii is overpriced.

Limited Ship Experience by tglack65

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America

We enjoyed all the cruise ports. We made the best of the limited offerings on the ship but we had many moments of boredom. My husband and I are both 56 and noticed that the majority of the passengers were close to our age or age 60 plus. We are not big drinkers or partyiers but we would have liked more entertainment and activity offerings. NCL knew they couldn’t offer a full ship experience but we paid for a fully staffed, fully open ship. I feel they should have sent out an email explaining the situation with the option to cancel with a full refund or take the partially limited cruise and offer some sort of a credit, maybe 25%, in the form of a future cruise credit. We like NCL and have another cruise booked to Alaska in September. Hopefully that ship doesn’t have the same staffing issues. Looking forward to a better experience on a larger and newer ship.

Beware of using a credit from NCL by Enjoy2Cruise

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

We booked a Hawaiian cruise on NCL’s Pride of America for 2020. Because of the pandemic, it had to be rebooked for 2021, and then rebooked for 2022. Each time we rebooked we used credits from the previous year, but then had to pay additional monies because of prices going up. We finally got to cruise in 2022 on their first voyage in 2 years and the cruise was wonderful with only 40% capacity on board. Because it was their first cruise in 2 years, the crew members were new and couldn’t always answer our questions. We booked all our excursions through the ship for each port. We booked 7 excursions for a cost of $2400. $450 of that $2400 was a credit from the previous cruise, so that was used first, and then we put almost $2,000 on our credit card. The week before we sailed, NCL cancelled one of our later excursions and said we would be credited. After the credit never came through on our credit card, and not showing up on our ship’s account as a credit which could have been used on the ship, I contacted NCL numerous times, and they said that since some credit was used to pay for part of the total of the excursions, they were allowed to issue my refund as a credit, but that the credit had to be used on another cruise within a year. After all the money I spent for this cruise, I can’t afford to go on another cruise right away. And, if they had put the credit in my account on the ship and told me that, I could have used it when we sailed, but they didn’t. They refused to refund $364 to my credit card that was due me. It was money I paid with my credit card for the excursion THEY cancelled. So beware of accepting any NCL credit and using it for a future trip or excursion. The prices increase each year so the credit only covers part of the expense, with you paying more out-of-pocket, but if it gets cancelled, you may not get your money back.

7 Day Hawaiian Island Cruise by Ferne

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

This 7 day cruise is a good way to see the Hawaiian Islands. We had enough time at each port to determine which Islands we would likely go back to.

Some Good, Some Bad by carmenhachmann

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America

Wished the ship had some competition as this is the only cruise ship that visits all four islands starting and ending at Honolulu. We found this cruise incredibly overpriced and not a good value in comparison to other cruises. As most of our time was actually spent on land (there are no sea days) we rarely ate on the ship or participated in activities. Overall, the service, entertainment, and food was very average. We expected much more considering the price point of this cruise. If you do the math, it would probably be less expensive to stay on each if the islands and book a hotel. Flights between islands are about $15O.00 per person. For my Canadian friends, there are also direct flights from Maui to Vancouver.

Cruise for the islands! by pwstyle

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

Had been to Hawaii 3 years ago and island hopped Oahu, Kauai, Big Island on our own. We wanted to take this cruise to give us a different perspective of the islands and also see Maui. Overall it was a great cruise to do that.

Great Trip by hlacmusic

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Pride of America

Awesome cruise. Worth it to see 4 islands. We went 3 days before the cruise to see more of Oahu. We did a circle island tour, Polynesian Cultural Center and Pearl Harbor. I wish we would have done at least 1 more day to see more of Polynesian Cultural Center. One day was not enough. If/when we go back I would spend the extra days in Honolulu at the end of cruise instead of before.
