Review summary
We booked a Hawaiian cruise on NCL’s Pride of America for 2020. Because of the pandemic, it had to be rebooked for 2021, and then rebooked for 2022. Each time we rebooked we used credits from the previous year, but then had to pay additional monies because of prices going up. We finally got to cruise in 2022 on their first voyage in 2 years and the cruise was wonderful with only 40% capacity on board. Because it was their first cruise in 2 years, the crew members were new and couldn’t always answer our questions. We booked all our excursions through the ship for each port. We booked 7 excursions for a cost of $2400. $450 of that $2400 was a credit from the previous cruise, so that was used first, and then we put almost $2,000 on our credit card. The week before we sailed, NCL cancelled one of our later excursions and said we would be credited. After the credit never came through on our credit card, and not showing up on our ship’s account as a credit which could have been used on the ship, I contacted NCL numerous times, and they said that since some credit was used to pay for part of the total of the excursions, they were allowed to issue my refund as a credit, but that the credit had to be used on another cruise within a year. After all the money I spent for this cruise, I can’t afford to go on another cruise right away. And, if they had put the credit in my account on the ship and told me that, I could have used it when we sailed, but they didn’t. They refused to refund $364 to my credit card that was due me. It was money I paid with my credit card for the excursion THEY cancelled. So beware of accepting any NCL credit and using it for a future trip or excursion. The prices increase each year so the credit only covers part of the expense, with you paying more out-of-pocket, but if it gets cancelled, you may not get your money back.Embarkation
