Review summary

Cruise was good but sure was disappointed with the bars and the special dining being closed off. No advance notice of that and they even charged more since our last trip.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Excellent, no rush no hassle.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Food was good however, with Covid (I guess) the ship was only 40% full and most of the special dining was closed. The reservation for the special dining was full and we only got to eat in one of the restaurants. Very disappointed.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
Cruise director was not very helpful. We had taken this same cruise before and this time we didn’t see or know what was going on most of the time onboard. They never introduced the captain or his crew. Most of the staff seemed as if this was a training cruise for them.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Entertainment was good but lacked the pizzazz as other cruises have been. Approximately 90% of those onboard were older then 65 and all they played over the pool and gym loud speakers was now a days music and way too loud. Request were make but nothing changed.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Like I said before this cruise seemed to be a training cruise for the new kids. Room service was excellent.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The ship was clean to start off the cruise but lacked clearing after about the third day.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Nice and was kept clean for us. The balcony is the only way to cruise if you can’t afford a suite, which we can’t.

Ship tip

Go often and you will enjoy it more every time.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Disembarking went fast for the excursion to Pearl Harbor. Every disappointed with that excursion. No reservations were made ahead of time for the Arizona. We could not get to see it since our bus was leaving for the airport and at 10am when we got in line they told us it wouldn’t be until 4pm before we could go. Everything there cost extra and for the $174 each it wasn’t worth it at all.

Thanks for sharing Hoping more venues open by February 2023

Staffing shortages are causing restaurants to be closed but NCL is working on that and now I'm seeing that Teppanyaki was open on the last cruise!

Thank you for this information. We are taking this cruise July 8, 2023 and had heard about various venues being closed. If that continues, we may have to rethink our trip.

Appreciate your feedback. Glad you enjoyed your cruise in spite of the inexperienced crew and few hiccups.

Thanks for the review. NCL has had several notices about staffing issues home Pride of America and cutbacks. They even canceled cruises for many who were booked to ensure they could keep up the level of service for the passengers who were able to sail.
