Had been to Hawaii 3 years ago and island hopped Oahu, Kauai, Big Island on our own. We wanted to take this cruise to give us a different perspective of the islands and also see Maui. Overall it was a great cruise to do that.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Got there very early and check-in was speedy.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
2 main dining rooms were very nice. Didn't try the specialty restaurants. Buffet didn't change up all that much except for what meat was at the carving station.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
Did not use the pool, or fitness center. Limited activities compared to other NCL cruises.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
Kevin Brando (the piano player, entertainer) was excellent! And the comedian was also excellent and very clean in his jokes (just can't remember his name).
However, the NCL gameshows MC'd by the cruise staff were not. The not so newlywed, and other "adult" shows reached the "raunchy" level. Although many people were laughing, we did not find it to be that way.
Children's Programs
no children

Ship Quality
3 out of 5
You can SEE the age of this ship and it is in dire need of repair. Wood & painted railings were not shiny and finished, but worn and rough. Windows on all levels and the panels on the upper viewing decks were dirty; looked they hadn't been clean in months. Smell of raw sewage seemed constant in some of the main walking areas on Deck 6.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
BF. Wasn't really surprised by the size of the cabin, but it had a little more storage draws than other cabins we had been in. Balcony railing was wood and rough.
NCL excursion: Director's Cut. Enjoyed watching the movie clips and seeing the scenery. Very nice lunch provided. Mini bus was comfortable, driver was very nice.
A little cloud cover and gray skies, but thankfully was still able to see it. Seas were a little choppy but worth it for the view. We had balcony cabin on the port side which is where we chose to stay for the entire pass by. We even invited a couple we had met on the cruise to join us. Keep an eye out for whales!
