Review summary
I ended an Alaskan cruise in Seattle with hubby and kids and then jumped a flight to meet Mom for this cruise. 9 times cruiser-43yrs old. I was expecting an older crowd on the ship. Many my age, a few children, good handful of teens to 20's, many seniors - mostly US then Brits with a few Aussies and others. Were told we had no smok. Then onboard told all rooms are cleaned but smoking in any cabin is allowed. Later found rooms clearly marked no smok. Comedian was our neighbor smoked like crazy, filling our room too as well as friends all down hallway. Itenerary was fantastik. Venice to Rome13 day. Every day but 1 new port. Cruise industry needs to learn that a 60year old today is younger today. Please give us real imersion into cultures. Educational topics on cameras and computers so basic not worth time. Same jokes heard million times over. Cruise staff dancers over the top corny to the point of insulting. Basic staff was good but manag. lacked. maitred checked out all our rears, insulting to his waiters. Did not enjoy dining room! Mostly ate at buffet where same food plus more was served. Would like to see comfort beds like holiday inn and others have done recently. These beds were hard and pillows miserable. Phone wouldn't call out to US for days but finally fixed. However all my griping aside, the itenerary was outstanding, port lecturer Hutch was EXCELLENT as was our room stewardess Naisy. Ship was well laid out and while older was beautiful and well kept. 600 passengers, but felt like 300. Never a line, embarkation disembark..best! Walk on and off! Met friends we'll stay in touch with! I must be harder to please these days! One last thought, beware of laundry roon wars! We washed early on cruise, then rewashed in sink hanging in shower or porthole to dry. Do NOT miss Venice! We stayed 2 days prior at Hotel Falier walking distance to bus and train. (must cary luggage over a couple of stepped bridges) Wonderful little gem away from touristy S Marks, but easy ride to w vaporetta( both best deals around!). Heard Venice can be done in a day-so glad we didn't listen! Bascilica Roco near hotel beautiful and worth tour! When cruise ships are not in port, Venice is divine! On cruise would sail again with good itenerary, but would like to splurge on a luxury line next time.Ports of call
