Review summary

We had a great cruise on a beautiful ship. The staff and service was wonderful as well!

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Crowded with poor directions given to the different drivers. Both the Celebrity Edge and the Ovation OTS were in port. The organization was much improved once inside the terminal.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Great overall! There is always some dishes we prefer over others. We ate at the MDR plus Chops, Izumi, and Jamie's Italian...all delicious, great service. My husband attended the Sake and Sushi lunch, which he enjoyed.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
So much to do onboard! My kids loved the IFly and the bumper cars. Pools are heated. Roller skating was only offered Day 3 and sold out quickly. We weren't able to snag a reservation.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The shows and bands were great! Disappointed that their wasn't a comedian onboard.

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
Both of my kids loved Adventure Ocean. My 6 year old girl colored, made bead bracelets, and watched movies. My 10 year old son loved playing the different games (eg. Gaga ball, fire ball, etc).

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Great service! We did not encounter any unhelpful or unfriendly staff. Our room steward, Cherrimaye, was wonderful.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Most beautiful ship I've sailed. The artwork throughout the ship was gorgeous. Impeccably clean throughout.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We stayed in 12686 and 12688 connecting balconies. Plenty of room. 12688 is on a slant and thus has a larger balcony. The only negative...these cabins are above the smoking area on Deck 5. Even on Deck 12, you can still smell cigarette smoke, especially when in port and when the ship moves slowly. Just something to keep in mind when booking Quantum class ships.

Ship tip

If you want to roller skate, be sure to book a reservation as soon as you are onboard. It was only offered on Day 3 and sold out quickly. If you want to participate in a first-come, first-serve activity (like bumper cars, 3 on 3 basketball, archery, etc), arrive at the SeaPlex 30 mins beforehand.

Ports of call

Juneau, Alaska

We booked a whale watching/Mendenhall glacier tour through RCCL. It was ok. We saw numerous humpback whales but only had an hour at Mendenhall glacier. This wasn't enough time to walk to Nugget Falls and back. Just the week before we had been on a whale watching tour with Island Adventures out of Anacortes, WA. It was a much nicer experience, the vessel/captain was better and they had a naturalist onboard.

Seattle, Washington

5 out of 5
Arrived a few days early and toured the Olympic Peninsula. Our flight on disembarkation day was not until 9:45 pm, so we used Port Valet service for our luggage and toured downtown Seattle. Port Valet worked great! So convenient.

Victoria, British Columbia

We had high tea at White Heather tea room. It was a ton of delicious food and the Mad Hatter tea was terrific.

Skagway, Alaska

5 out of 5
Skagway train ride is a must-do!!!

CRUISE ENDICOTT ARM & DAWES GLACIER

5 out of 5
Beautiful and serene...well-worth the early morning wake up call.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Crowded. Both the Ovation and Celebrity Edge disembarked at the same time. Taxi drivers did not want to take disembarking passengers to downtown (only to the airport); so the taxi line stalled. A port worker had to step in multiple times and tell the taxi drivers to stop denying fares.
