Review summary

This was our first Alaskan cruise, and all in all we LOVED it!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Despite the Seattle terminal being smaller and can be more on the hectic side, our embarkation process was rather smooth and efficient and we had no problems.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We were in the ‘Silk’ section of the main dining room and I enjoyed every dinner of the cruise.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
The ship had a load of activities onboard. I didn’t do the bumper cars or the skydiving simulator, but I did do the North Star and it was GREAT! The views provided a very interesting perspective over the side of the ship. If you haven’t done it before I recommend it for sure.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We went to some of the shows and they were pretty good. My family and I always loved the game shows provided onboard. Some of the shows we watched included: Love and Marriage, Crazy Quest, Higher or Lower, and more. It was also fun going to the late night events such as 70s night, Ovation Rocks, etc.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our waiters in the dining room were also very good! We always liked talking to our wait staff, and getting to know them. We did the same thing with our room steward. Everyone else throughout the ship was very kind and helpful whenever we had questions.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship’s design was neat with the use of the ‘Royal Esplanade’ and the ship’s layout was easy to navigate. The common areas throughout our cruise were very well maintained.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Our cabin was very good. The size of the cabin and the balcony was pretty nice. The room was always clean.

Ports of call

Juneau, Alaska

5 out of 5
The town of Juneau is really nice. We did a whale watching excursion outside of the cruise line, and it was AMAZING! The crew of the boat we toured on were very good and informative. We also went to the Red Dog saloon to try a famous Alaskan shot. My family and I really enjoyed it.

Sitka, Alaska

4 out of 5
Sitka was a nice town. Wasn’t hard to navigate at all. We tried the Russian dumplings at this restaurant called ‘Pel Meni’ which was very good. We also saw the Russian Bishop’s house which was pretty neat. Besides that, we didn’t do too much here, we just walked around town.

Victoria, British Columbia

5 out of 5
Victoria B.C. was a very neat town. Seemed very clean. I tried Poutine here for the first time, which I very much enjoyed. We walked through China town in which my mom loved seeing. Very nice street and building architecture all around the city.

Skagway, Alaska

5 out of 5
Another great port! We did the White Pass Railway excursion and it was also AMAZING! The views from the train going up/down the pass were unbelievable! I definitely recommend this excursion for Skagway.

Cruise Inside Passage, Alaska

5 out of 5
The sites when sailing through the passage were very nice, and very picturesque!

Seattle, Washington

4 out of 5
We flew in the afternoon before the cruise, so we didn’t do too much. They morning of the cruise we did check out the space needle. Pretty neat. The port itself can be very hectic especially when you disembark the ship because the area where you wait for buses, taxis, etc can be very crammed.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Disembarkation from the ship was pretty simple as it was just walking to the promenade and scanning your room card. It was all in all pretty smooth.
