I am done selling with Royal Caribbean and this is mainly due to the overpricing, the lack of entertainment, and the continual downgrading of the food
Embarkation
2 out of 5
If it wasn’t for the fact that I am handicap, I would say that the embarkation process is horrible and takes too long
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
1 out of 5
The food on this particular cruise was horrible. In fact, one night I looked at the menu and decided not to even go, but do let me say that the specialty restaurants were outstanding, and in particular, Jamie‘s Italian was phenomenal.
Onboard Activities
2 out of 5
To be a big as a ship, as it was very little to do
Entertainment
1 out of 5
The rating should be self-explanatory very boring in terms of entertainment
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Staff did an outstanding job as I always do
Ship Quality
1 out of 5
To be such a big ship, the common areas were very small
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Bed was very comfortable and I like the fact that they have expanded the shower a little bit, and the pillows were outstanding
The disappointing thing is that you don’t get to go into the glacier you get to look at it from a distance, and this should have been explained before I chose the cruise
The embarkation for me was outstanding only because I am handicapped and I was on a scooter, so I got preferential treatment and I use the Porter luggage program well when I said my luggage outside my cabin door and went straight to the airport, so I did not have to deal with luggage
There have been cutbacks and changes on all cruise lines since Covid. Alaska is primarily about the scenery and excursions and not the ship or onboard entertainment. If you want to get close to the glacier, you need to book the small boat excursion. A little research and reading reviews would have indicated that the ships can rarely get very close to the glaciers.
There are excursions that will take you closer to the glaciers however I’m not sure if they’re handicap accessible. As far as the ship getting closer to the glacier, that depends on conditions and park authorities. Thanks for sharing your cruising experience.
