The Alaska cruise has must see scenery, the excursions are interesting and support a spectrum of activities. Ovation of the Seas and her crew made this trip most enjoyable.
Embarkation

no sitting and waiting, everything moved along very well
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
One main dining prime rib was served dry but it was easily replaced. All the other main dining meals were very good. I thought the lobster meal was very good, it was not the Caribbean lobster which I find soft. The buffets had very good roast meats (beef, ham, pork), the ham and pork were excellent. The specialty restaurants had some of the best filet mignon I have ever had and I eat a number of them each year. The waiting staff on the ship was absolutely outstanding, I could not have asked for more.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
I was very satisfied with the activities; we like trivia and there were a number of them, we like to play card and board games and there were spaces to do so, I did not feel crowded the adults only pool and jacuzzies, enjoyed the I-fly experience, there was rock climbing, surf pool and bumper cars... Although I did not experience all of them I did not feel there would be a problem to do so.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
The evening shows were good. I thought the "The Beautiful Dream" show was exceptionally good. The props, the visual experience, singing and dancing of this show were a joy to experience.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
I could not have asked for more. They served our every need in a pleasant, helpful and professional manner.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
The Ovation of the seas is very clean and well kept. It does not have the enormous open space promenade like a lot of other ships but I think the space was very well utilized to fit more in. I am not a gambler and I did not feel like I was being pushed through the casino to get to other venues. There is one problem with the design in that the Chops Grill is right above the Music Hall and the sound can be distracting to the meal. Not sure how you can sound proof that.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
The room has your standard small space to get around the bed, but the couch/desk space makes the room feel roomy. I thought the door walls to the balcony moved quite easily. The room was clean and comfortable. I like that the desk area can be pulled away from the wall and used as a table, took advantage of that. A little surprised that my sister's walker would not fit through the door. Fortunately we were in a hallway bend and could leave the walker outside the door without blocking the hallway. Had to collapse it to bring it into the room.
Spent an extra day in Seattle to see some of the sights. The food is very good but it gets a little pricy and glad we did not stay a weekend because of the price of food.
Went on crab feast and boat excursion at a lodge. The crab was excellent, the boat ride was informative and had beautiful views of the scenery. We did this excursion 4 years ago and enjoyed it just as much as the first time. Ketchikan sells lined jackets for $26. Bought one last time, bought one this time. Cheapest port for merchandise you will find.
Went on the fishery and glacier tour four years and enjoyed that very much, but just did a little shopping and went to the Red Dog saloon for an hour or so and enjoyed the off color piano player. We also enjoyed the pool while most people were off the ship.
It was a short stop 5pm to 9:30pm so did not get off the ship. There are some things to see in town but I was more interested in our dinner time on ship.
