Review summary

I loved our Alaska cruise with Royal Caribbean! I would do it again but want to see more of Alaska

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Long lines but we expected them. It was 48 minutes from arrival at the port to entering the ship.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
I used only the main dining room and room service. Food was good. Dinner service was slow until we found Michelle and Armand. They were excellent.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We enjoyed the solarium.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Enjoyed all performances. Took advantage of as many as we could.

Two70 Lounge

5 out of 5

This venue is so impressive! At a cost of $28 mil, the technology employed here is exceptional.

Solarium

5 out of 5

The solarium was a favorite spot for our group of four. This was my first cruise with enclosed pool/hot tub spaces. I would have been concerned but, since it was Royal Caribbean, I felt that they would make every effort to keep the air moving and safe for all.

Royal Theater

5 out of 5

Very pleasant venue. Loved the extra ventilation installed at each seat. Thank you Royal Caribbean!!

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
My grandson had a great time in the 12-17 group. This was a blessing for us as he’s almost always an only child among adults.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
I mentioned slow service from some in the dining room (NOT Michelle and Armand). Our room steward, Inyoman, was excellent. I didn’t have a lot of interaction with other staff.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship was clean and beautifully decorated and maintained. So far, Royal Caribbean is my favorite cruise line.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The cabin was roomy, clean and very comfortable! Loved the balcony and the fact that it was open to our family in the adjacent cabin.

Ports of call

Seattle, Washington

5 out of 5
We walked the market and had dinner at Anthony’s. Seattle is a gem!

Sitka, Alaska

5 out of 5
I think this was my favorite port. We took the Birds, Bears and Barnacles excursion (through Sitka Tours Alaska) and had a great time. We really enjoyed our visit in Sitka.

Skagway, Alaska

5 out of 5
We did the City Highlights and Gold Rush Sled Dog Tour through Royal Caribbean. I like Skagway. They were celebrating July 4 but still welcomed the ship.

CRUISE ENDICOTT ARM & DAWES GLACIER

5 out of 5
I was up at 5:30 am but ultimately missed the glacier.

Juneau, Alaska

5 out of 5
For obvious reasons, Juneau’s port wasn’t as quaint as others visited. We took the Alaska Tales (booked through Viator) whale watching cruise and enjoyed it. Captain Mike, narrator Olive, and Will

Victoria, British Columbia

3 out of 5
The City Tour of Scenic Victoria (RC) could have been skipped. Driver was pleasant but there were few opportunities to see what he was describing as he described it. I think we would have preferred wandering downtown.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We managed our own luggage and it was a breeze!!

Try doing a land portion next time. I want to do one on Princess, since I heard so many good things about the train, lodges and motor coach touring Northern Alaska. Its pricey, but could be worth it.
