Review summary

This was my fourth Alaska cruise (3 Disney, 1 RC). I loved the ship, but the itinerary felt like something was missing. When you sail out of Vancouver, you can use all your port days in Alaska, but sailing out of Seattle, you need a foreign port. I would have enjoyed the cruise more if it had at least one more Alaska port. The family chose this cruise, we just followed the granddaughters. : ) That said, despite weather, crew issues and staffing, it was an excellent cruise and excellent ship and I would recommend it. After all, it is Alaska!

Embarkation

1 out of 5
Very confusing and slow. Took over two hours to check in. Two ships, one building, people confused as to which line. Worst check-in we ever experienced.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Mostly ate in speciality restaraunts. Staffing issues sometimes caused delays. Used main dining for breakfast. Staff worked hard and food was good.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
The Seaplex was amazing. We played table tennis, air hockey ($), bumper cars, roller skating. Excellent facility. Granddaughters also did the Ripcord.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Music was much, much too loud. Why is that? At one show, I had to cover my ears as it was getting painful. I need to start packing concert ear plugs.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Everyone was working very hard. Rumor was the ship was only staffed at 65%.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Beautiful ship. Easy to find things and get around.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Our only issue was our safe had been left locked and it took a couple of days to get it unlocked.

Ship tip

Take time to explore the ship and enjoy the art work. It is probably the most beautiful ship I have ever been on.

Ports of call

Seattle, Washington

4 out of 5
We spent a little time befor and after the cruise. Spent our time exploring the parks around Seattle. Seattle needs to address their graffiti problem.

Cruise Inside Passage, Alaska

5 out of 5
I love this part of an Alaska cruise and it is why we always get a veranda room. It is just beautiful.

Juneau, Alaska

4 out of 5
Difficult to rate because we were very late in visiting this port so there were no excursions. In past cruises, we have enjoyed Juneau. So rating based on past experiences.

Skagway, Alaska

4 out of 5
With COVID, many excursions were curtailed as was ours. We Skagway is a neat little place and we enjoyed walking the town after our train ride.

CRUISE ENDICOTT ARM & DAWES GLACIER

2 out of 5
Disappointing. We did not get near the glacier and the weather prevented us from seeing anything. Little glacier ice, but did see some marine life as we left.

Victoria, British Columbia

4 out of 5
Pretty town. We did a walking tour and then wandered a bit in town.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Much better than the embarkation experience.
