My husband and I sailed on Oosterdam on one of the overnight repositioning cruises from Vancouver to Seattle, so I'm aware we did not get the full HAL cruising experience. That said, we loved the food, the entertainment, the overall ship decor and layout, and (for the most part) the kind and helpful staff. Not so pleased with the inefficient boarding process, chaotic way they ran muster drill (we referred to it as "Muster Cluster"), and lack of common activities like a proper sail-away party. We definitely got the feeling this ship was catered to the over-70 crowd, which we are not. Overall feeling is that we would try HAL again, but likely a different ship, and still probably wouldn't be our first choice.

The cruise was fantastic, met a lot of nice people, lots of good food and was just an overall great experience.

Another fantastic cruise from HAL. Not a line for everyone, but if you do your research and what they offer appeals to you no one does it better. Staff are all amazing and really seem to like their jobs. They go out of their way to do the little extras that make your vacation great and are above and beyond what could be expected. The ship is well maintained and oh so clean, the food is top notch in all the restaurants not just the surcharge speciality ones. The itinerary is well chosen for interest, variety and local flavour. Looking forward to the next one...

This was Avery great trip. Lots of ports and several at sea days to rest and relax. The Oosterdam is a medium size ship so you aren’t constantly fighting crowds of people.

I was unable take the survey on the Holland America site due to them closing the survey so early (I returned home on the 30th and attempted to take the survey on the 10th).

Holland is a great line. Although I am on the younger end of the spectrum, 44, I sailed with my parents whom are in their late 70's. They love the size of the ship, not overly large and how they cater to their age group. If you are younger, and looking for others your same age and more 'excitement' you may want to choose another cruise line perhaps celebrity or such. But Holland is a first class experience, but again it's geared towards the retired crowd.

Wonderful experience. This cruise was the first cruise for my sister and I. We both want to take more cruises.

This 14 day cruise was excellent in terms of ports and weather; beautiful beaches and very nice weather. The service in the dining room was excellent. The room stewards seemed disinterested in their job and our room never received a full and proper clean during our 14 days.

Recently back from our 3rd straight Spring Break cruise and 1st time with Holland America. After many cruises on Carnival, I'd call HAL a civilized way to cruise, but perhaps a bit too civilized for us. So many nice things to say about HAL, this ship and this team, but in the end, just to sleepy. Things wrap up pretty much by 11pm, so not what we're used to. Still rates a 5 for us!

Thoroughly enjoyed our first cruise, loved the decor and the classic design of the ship. Not too busy but always plenty of things to do.

Loved my cruise vacation on the Oosterdam! Loved the Cruise Director Becca Newton, the Captain and his staff who were always visible and engaging.

This was our 68th cruise. We had a great time enjoying the quiet and great ship. We always love Holland America

Just off Oosterdam. Pros include a well maintained ship and very attentive service. Cons include not many activities and a lack of common space where seating is limited and hard to get in some situations. This is definitely geared toward an older crowd as most areas close by 10. Additionally, there was no live music and no fun activities at the pool at any time. Food on the ship was hit and miss. The premium restaurants like Pinnacle Grill and Canneletto were divine. However, the main dining option had some serious ups and downs. I do think the Lido buffet served wonderful, high quality food. There were lots of varieties of food but it closed way too early. Room service was fast. The Dive In Grill was a real treat! The shows were just fine, what few of them there were. We especially liked the comedian. Our favorite spot was The Crow’s Nest on the 10th floor. It is a very relaxing place to visit and read until it closes at 10:00.

The Oosterdam is an old gal, and she does not disappoint. Everything from getting on to disembarkation went well. The food, service, entertainment, staff, cabin were all good. I had such a great time and the weather couldn't of been any better. Met so many great people during the week.

This is our first time on Holland America but it will not be our last. This line draws a more mature, low key crowd with few to no kids. It was quiet, low key and lovely. Just our style!

We enjoyed our first cruise and are looking forward to the next one. We are an older couple that were looking for relaxation and not non-stop entertainment. Oosterdam provided what we were looking for, but may not be a good fit for families.

Thoroughly like the size of the ship. Not too many young kids. Mostly older fun adults. It was great meeting people from all over the country and in Canada. That's why I like doing cruises

Our first cruise. We were with the Mercy Me group. Approximately 1/2 the ship was with Mercy Me. Due to high winds and rough water we only made 1 scheduled port and lost 1 stop. But our amazing captain moved us to 2 other ports for our safety. We have heard this rarely happens. We enjoyed our time so much we will be cruising again next year too.
