Review summary

We enjoyed seeing the sites of Alaska, especially the glaciers, and the glacier Gardens. Our cabin cast a negative tone for the trip with all the noise and uncomfortable bed. It took them the entire week to help us with this problem. On Friday they moved us to another cabin. Because of lack of sleep I became quite ill when I left the ship. Not a good welcome home.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
We didn't participate in many of the ship activities due to the instability of the ship and high swells. It was difficult to keep our balance.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
The Oosterdam singers were okay, but not the quality we heard and saw from prior cruises. The magician/ comedian was entertaining.

Cabin / Stateroom

This cabin needs upgrading. The bed was not comfortable and was lumpy. The door to the verandah rattled and would not totally close. The bunk bed in the ceiling made screeching noises when the ship shuttered, which constantly interrupted our sleep. The cabin steward was terrific and kept the cabin very clean.

Ship tip

the ship is old and needs an overhaul. Make sure that happens before cruising on the Oosterdam.

We did a grand tour of Juneau - the Mendenhall Glacier, the Glacier Gardens, and the fish hatchery were terrific!

Sitka, Alaska Did not visit port

It was raining.

Ketchikan, Alaska

We enjoyed shopping and walking .

Victoria, British Columbia

We toured the Butchart Gardens. It was very disappointing as it was too dark to see the flowers at night. We thought the gardens would be beautiful with bright lights. We miss seeing the fireworks too as the walk was too long and down hill. We're sorry we spent the money on this tour.
