Review summary

Not having a quiet deck to escape to, especially on a long cruise, is a deal breaker in my opinion. And it’s unfortunate because Oasis of the Seas has so many truly cool things to experience. It also had way better food than what I have come to expect from Royal Caribbean. But whoever designed this grand behemoth should be keelhauled for overlooking what almost all RCCL ships that are smaller have; a lounging deck that is either deck 4 or 5 on those ships.

Excellent quality food. The best part of being on Oasis of the Seas

Plenty of onboard activities. A never ending array of fun

Cats was cancelled. The water show was awesome. Great choices in music for that show, too.

Ship Quality

This is the killer. I like those ships that have a nice, quiet deck with deck loungers and the sounds of the ocean. A nice quiet area to escape to. The only outdoor seating is either in the pool area, where it’s always noisy, or in the sun on a deck so far up, you can’t hear the ocean. Oasis has a jogging track where there should be lounge chairs. I never question cleanliness on Royal Caribbean. The ship is constantly being scrubbed, wiped, mopped, etc. by a VERY attentive crew. Probably cleaner than my own house.

Ports of call

Perfect Day At Coco Cay, Bahamas

5 out of 5
Better than expected because we were the only ship to dock that day, and we were sailing at about 50% capacity.

Cozumel, Mexico

Coxen Hole, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

A little rough when you walk out from the port’s gate, but once on the island, a really nice place. Tip: hire a driver BEFORE disembarking

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

Always a great day in Costa Maya

We found the Solarium a very peaceful retreat. We could hear the ocean from up there also.

We spent most of our deck time on Symphony on the Suite Deck for that reason. Quiet, not crowded, and no wait at the bar.

Good point about the lower deck with chairs. Those are fun to hang out on and nice for walking in the morning.
