Nice ship, but it was not all it was hyped to be!

Review summary

I had a good time, but there are certainly areas that could be improved upon. My biggest complaint is not even about the ship or excursions. and their parent company World Travel Holdings does not honor their word, and are not a benefit to consumers in anyway. Once all of my cruises previously booked through them are done. I am severing all relationships with these two companies. I found a REAL travel Agent who actually does all of the work. With , they do the bare minimum. The company does NOT care to do anything more, nor can you actually speak with any Managers when problems arise. Buyer BEWARE!

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
Unfortunately, the app does not reflect EVERYTHING going on. Combined with the fact that you must schedule all reservations as soon as you get on the ship, PRIOR to fully knowing what is available. We ended up scheduling every activity within the first three days, so that you do not miss out. We were then BORED for the remaining 4 days! We mostly people watched or napped in our cabin. Regular activities were sparse. If you like to shop, drink or gamble predominantly, you will like this ship. I have found better activity options on other ships including smaller ships!

Entertainment

5 out of 5
I did enjoy the shows with the exception of CATS. I found it to be a snooze fest, but did not want to be rude and leave the theater mid show! I would skip this one if I could redo...

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
I had nothing less than STELLAR service from every crew member I came in contact with. They were all very friendly, competent and attentive. They went above and beyond at every turn!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
I felt that the ship was very clean and they really did implement the extra cleanings as they said. You could see crew cleaning high traffic touch points everywhere, at all times on the ship. I never once worried about germs! KUDOS to Royal crew!!!

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We actually were upgraded to an Ocean View Stateroom # 14662. The cabin was well appointed, clean and updated. The only issue I have is the same with EVERY cruise ship- The air conditioning never really cools the rooms. That is why we bring our own fan!

Ship tip

There are not near enough Coke FreeStyle machines for the amount of passengers, are difficult to locate (some are not in obvious places), and were constantly either non-functioning or completely out of stock the majority of the cruise. It was absolutely NOT worth the price, but unless you only plan to drink alcohol like a fish the whole cruise, you will be disappointed also!

Ports of call

Perfect Day At Coco Cay, Bahamas

2 out of 5
Literally everything to do here is an additional cost, and is priced way too high. The food was terrible, and the straw market vendors all sold the same items at high retail prices. You could tell the merchandise was mass produced, and not hand made. Wait until you go to port to buy your souvenirs. They are more authentic at more reasonable prices. Also remember that there is a 10% VAT charge there on every purchase, and every dollar spent increases Royal Caribbean's profit, not the local people! The best part of this island are the Tram services!

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
We used Cruises Only excursion here and did the Sea Lion tour. We ended up paying extra for the add on once there at Chakanaab. It was well worth every penny we paid! I will go back here again!

Coxen Hole, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

4 out of 5
We used a Viator excursion here. We went to the Monkey and Sloth Hangout. It was a very small facility, but was fun just the same. The price was very affordable and included an island tour and additional stops. Good value here!

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

4 out of 5
We did not do any excursions here. We just shopped in port and got great deals on souvenirs for our loved ones . Then we returned to the ship. It was a very hot day!

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Absolutely the easiest debarkation I have ever had!

Thanks for your review. Interesting you said that the one issue on every cruise ship is that the AC does not cool enough. We never ran into this problem. You probably already know that if the sliding door to the balcony is not closed, the AC in the cabin shuts off.
