Review summary

This was my first cruise and it was great! Always something to do. The destinations were gorgeous and you get to pick what you want to do at each location. The boat was not crowded with kids. Service staff were very accommodating and friendly. The ship was always very clean! I will definitely book another cruise with Royal Caribbean!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The food we had for dinner each night was good (not great). The friendly service made up for it! The breakfast and lunch buffets were underwhelming. The food at the specialty restaurants that we went to was great but the restaurants were located right in the middle of the kids activity sections so it was open to all of the screaming and playing.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Pools were pretty crowded most of the time but not overwhelming. Took some time to find some available chairs but we always seemed to manage. The hot tubs were always overpopulated so we never went in.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
The house band was mediocre. They played mostly the common wedding music songs (which usually happened to be the same songs the DJ just before the band was playing). The bands near the pools were good. The comedy show was good. The jugglers were entertaining. We had a lot of fun playing Bingo but the host said the same jokes at each event and it took a long time for him to keep repeating the rules.

Children's Programs

I didn’t attend any kids programs. Did not have kids.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our dinner servers were excellent. Very friendly and accommodating. They always anticipated our needs and remembered our likes. They knew what we wanted without us having to ask, it was wonderful. Servers at the specialty restaurants were also extremely friendly but hard to track down. Our housekeeper was the best! He always made sure to greet us in the morning and ask about our day in the evening. He paid special attention to detail. The bartenders were also excellent. They gave recommendations and made sure you were happy with your drink. They were always very busy but I never felt rushed or unimportant. They were very friendly and personable.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The entire ship was extremely clean. The staff were always picking up drinks and wiping everything down. I mentioned a few times on the trip how attentive the staff were and how clean the ship was.

Cabin / Stateroom

We weren’t in the room much, so size wasn’t a big deal. It was perfect for the two of us. The balcony overlooking Central Park was beautiful. The bed was very uncomfortable as it felt like two mattresses shoved together and we kept falling in the space between the mattresses since they kept pushing apart. Bathrooms were small but clean. Water pressure was great in the shower. Our toilet water left a large black ring around the bowl that got worse with each day. The sink water was always warm, never cold. I prefer the option of cold water for.

We did not do an excursion. We walked around the flea market area for a bit. We weren’t impressed. Stopped at a local bar and had a few drinks. That was fun and entertaining.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

We took a ferry to St. John and it was gorgeous! We got engaged on this cruise so we are thinking about coming back to get married here because of how beautiful it was. Definitely recommend going to St John.

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

We did a bus tour of both the Dutch side and the French side. It was good to see the sights and we stopped off twice and were able to walk around both stops for 30 minutes. The first stop was fun. Walked around the flea markets and bay, then stopped at a bakery. The second stop was less lively. It was on a busy street with mot much to do. We walked to a local bar, had to get a drink to go and got back on the bus while everyone else went to an ice cream place. Parts of St Maarten were gorgeous while most of it was devastatingly damaged from the hurricane that happened two years ago. A lot of ship wrecks and most houses still had no roofs or walls. It was very sad to see.

It was very easy! Very quick! We took our own luggage from the room so it was a quicker process. Made it through customs in less than 10 minutes.
