Review summary

Wonderful! This is our 10th cruise I believe and seventh on Royal Caribbean. We really loved it!

Embarkation

Really pretty easy. I have had easier but not bad for such a large group.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
I feel as though the choices of venue are excellent on the ship but I usually enjoy the windjammer food more than I did on this trip. The solarium had a beautiful salad and gazpacho that I loved!

Onboard Activities

There is so much to do on the ship! I can’t imagine any complaints here.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Just wow! The performance of Cats was just as good as Broadway! Every performance we saw, with the exception of the family friendly comedians, was truly amazing. The comedians were just OK. I felt like I would have paid $100 for the tickets to most of the shows and much more for Cats. I highly recommend going to every single one you can and applied Royal Caribbean for but they have accomplished as far as entertainment .

Children's Programs

My son is 14 so only enjoy the teen activities which were very good.

Service and Staff

On a ship this large I can’t imagine that you wouldn’t encounter a few bad apples, which we did. Our state room attendant was the worst we have ever had. She spent most of her time in the hall on the phone and hardly ever cracked a smile. We ended up getting tips to the other state room attendants on the hall because they were so much more friendly. They were also a couple of random staff members who didn’t impress us much but there were also some amazing people who made the vacation really special. Of special note was one massage therapist named Sherryann. She understood exactly what I was asking for and went above and beyond to give me the best massage ever! I have had massages in numerous countries and many ships but she was one of the best.

Ship Quality

I really never felt like there were 6000 people on the ship except for on the second C day by the pool. Even then however, I made my way to the sundeck and found myself with only about 25 other people in a beautiful spot! Just don’t follow the crowd and you will be able to find seclusion if that’s what you were looking for.

Cabin / Stateroom

This room seems a tiny bit smaller than on other ships but it is well arranged and we never had a problem with two people. I must say I was mostly worried about noise being over the boardwalk and aqua theater but With the exception of the noise from the carousel every once in a while, I really was never bothered by anything. I was absolutely amazed that the noise didn’t bother me since I am so sensitive to that. It was great to be able to watch the show and the aqua theater right from our balcony and well I would still prefer her to be looking over the ocean, we were easily able to see the ocean toward the back of the ship.

Ship tip

Take some time to find the sundeck on the port side of deck 14 forward. My favorite spot on the ship Take some time to find the sundeck on the port side of deck 14 forward. My favorite spot on the ship!

This is a review of Royal Caribbean’s job not the location. We went to blue Lagoon which was beautiful and the animals were truly amazing. We loved every minute of our time at blue Lagoon but getting there it was a nightmare! Royal Caribbean had us meet at 7:45 AM, sit in a cold room for an hour before heading out and then sit right outside the ship for another hour before boarding a 30 minute boat ride over to blue again. It took them two and this is a review of Royal Caribbean‘s job not the location. We went to blue Lagoon which was beautiful and the animals were truly amazing. Royal Caribbean had us meet at 7:45 AM, sit in a cold room for an hour before heading out and then sit right outside the ship for another hour before boarding a 30 minute boat ride over to blue again. It took them 2 1/2 hours to get us to our location and then we had to turn around and leave bye 2:00 PM. It was awful and is exactly the reason why I hardly ever choose to use Royal Caribbean for sure excursions. If you want to go, book it on your own and go. You will be there faster and longer than everyone else.

We booked an outside excursion with Sonic charters and it was amazing! Check them out on TripAdvisor. Brendan did a wonderful job meeting our requests and we spent most of the day visiting secluded beaches and snorkeling all by ourselves over in St. John. Check out the new floating restaurant, Lime Out!

We actually did not stay on Saint Martin at all. We booked with a charter company to go to Anguilla for the day and it was absolutely amazing! Don’t hesitate, just do it! Anguilla beaches considered some of the most beautiful in the world for a reason. Cap Jaluca, (pardon the possible misspelling) was truly a highlight that I will never forget. If you do this, make sure your charter company calls ahead for lunch. We ended up not eating after waiting for an hour and a half so it’s definitely on Caribbean time.
