Review summary
The experienced cruiser knows what islands to visit and which to avoid. This cruise, thankfully, hit all good ones. The Sun is a ship that is clean, well staffed, but is aging gracefully under careful attention. The staterooms are generious, but the lack of things like a flat screen TV and other "standard" ammenities on more current ships reveal the age of this ship. Also be aware, that although the specialty resturants on board offer good fare, the general food on board is deliberately below par. There were some exceptions with things like crab cakes, but overall, the on board general meals are ment to drive passengers to the fee based specialty eateries clearly out of necessity for a "good" meal. The crew is well schooled in all aspects of proper service and thankfully costly things like drinks are not pushed too agressively on passangers. Overall, this was a good cruise on an acceptable ship with adequate, if not good food. The entertainment was sadly wanting, with two nights of a magician, a ventriliquist, a juggler and a comedian as the "main attractions'. The stage and theater ammenities are "old school" and lacked the dramatic features of newer ships. The ships smoking policy presents a serious challange to non smokers as the casino is uninhabitable due to excessive smoking and if your neighbor is a smoker (as mine was) your balcony may be a wasted upgrade as smoking is permitted on the balcony. I couldn't use mine often due to the unhealthy situation. Very bad policy for anyone who cares about their health. Not to put all negatives out, so, one should know what to expect before booking and you will enjoy the cruise with a decidedly older passanger crowd, on a mature ship, visiting good ports. Don't even consider going on the Sun for the food or entertaiment. Non-smokers beware!Ship experiences

Ship tip
The "happy Hour" at four PM is a great "deal" and fun.
