Review summary

NCL Sun was a wonderful way to spend our spring break. No contact with anyone from home! No worries. Staff was always polite and smiling. Our room was nice and clean. It is beginning to show its age a little bit but still would plan to come back and sail again. Shower is a bit small but for the amount of time spent showering, why should I complain!?! Dining choices were excellent. We took advantage of several of the upscale restuarants. My favorites were Teppenyaki and Ginza. Also ate at Le Bistro, the Brazillian steakhouse, and Italian restuarants. Also went to the muder mystery dinner....great fun! We booked all of our dining selections as soon as we boarded. In Guatemala, we chose the Rio Dulce and Livingston tour. Great tour. Especially the river portion. Livingston was unique. We strolled around town and then went to the hotel overlooking the bay. If you do not speak Spanish, there will be a language barrier but the menus are printed in both Spanish and English. Try the fruit smoothies. Yum! And all fruit! In Belize, we went on the Cave Tubing and Rainforest trek. Great. And refreshing. Lunch was included and delicious! We have been to Cozumel and Key West several times so we did not do an organized tour in either of these places but the choices for shore excursions were numerous and diverse. Would definitely recommend this trip! And would take it again!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
I celebrated my birthday on this trip. Staff was always upbeat! Food was great and abundant!!

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Special entertainers were excellent! Not sure aout the regular shipboard entertainers since they only did one or two shows.

Service and Staff

Great attitudes!

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Ship was nice. If you get a room midship, some of your walks to the forward or aft dining areas may be a bit lengthy. Public rooms were clean. plenty of room for everyone.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Stateroom was pleasant. I never worry about the size since you will spend so little time there. Our room steward was always in a good mood and very helpful.

Ports of call

Key West, Florida

Beautiful city with lots of history. We went to the Mel Fischer Museum and to Hemingway House. Both unique places! Have never understood why the cruise ships are only in this port from early morning to early afternoon. So much to do at night here!

Cozumel, Mexico

We walked around town. beautiful place and lots of shopping options. Be prepared to say "No thank you." often.

Santo Tomas De Castilla, Guatemala

Tour Rio Dulce and Livingston. Great tour but the boat ride to and from across the bay is intense! Very bumpy! Be sure to put the seat cushions down and consider using your life jacket as extra padding or as a back rest.

Belize City, Belize

5 out of 5
Cave tubing and Rainforest Trek was wonderful! Cool and refreshing! Bus ride was a bit lengthy to get to and from. Guide talked about Belize on the way to the site. Was quiet and let us nap on the way back to town.
Don't Miss: Swimmng the river!

Pros: Freestyle

Cons: lines were long at times

Recommends Norwegian Sun? Yes!
