We had a wonderful time. Even if the captain had to cancel the Dingle port due to rough seas.

We were expecting a better experience with NCL, but their sales pitch almost ruined the cruise. They urgently need to improve the on board activities. The staff was very helpful and courteous.

Great but over crowded by cruises56950484

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Star

Overall the cruise was good. The scenery cruising through the Chillean fjords was amazing. Rounding the horn was a once in a lifetime adventure. The bar staff and most dining rooms servers were well trained and very friendly. Only real complaint is the over crowded Buffett lines, saving of deck chairs and the rudeness of fellow traveler. Would I cruise with Norwegian again... Yes but find a ship that's not sold out , that has a better space ratio.

Absolutely horrible by myklscholl

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Star

Bruh, don’t ever take this cruises they changed the name of the cruise from “Antarctica” to “South America” one day into the cruise because they cancelled the Antarctica days. Google “ncl Antarctica” and you’ll know what I’m talking about. Complete bait and switch, we should file a class action against Ncl for this

We were disappointed for cancellation of the main part of the trip to cruise Paradise Island in Antarctica but understand weather conditions and the safety of the ship and all aboard. Staff was fabulous and very accommodating to assist handicap.

Worst vacation ever by lekwiatkowski

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple

Very disappointed! To the point of exploring looking into a class action suit. I’ve never been so upset to have something I’ve look forward to and paid dearly for. Pulled out from underneath us. I’m not sure how you rated my response as a 3.8 stars out of 5? I m thinking more of 2 stars

Embarking on an Antarctic cruise with 3 small kids by annalissareis

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Star

Embarking on an Antarctic cruise is a journey like no other, and my recent expedition with Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) to the icy continent proved to be an unforgettable adventure. Here's we choose NCL stood out as the ideal choice for this once-in-a-lifetime trip. Exceptional Weather and Smooth Sailing Our two-week journey was blessed with extraordinary weather, experiencing the "Drake lake" instead of the notorious "Drake shake," which made our voyage remarkably smooth both ways. The visibility on our first day along the Antarctic Peninsula was an astounding 100 km, allowing us to behold the continent in all its majesty. Although we missed the Falklands due to rough seas, it didn't detract from the overall exhilarating experience. Impeccable Service The service onboard was impeccable. Every crew member, from top to bottom, was in great spirits and eager to assist, ensuring minimal waiting times at bars and restaurants despite the cruise being sold out. The cabin stewards provided turndown service, and despite a crowded buffet occasionally, the ship felt spacious and comfortable. Diverse and Delicious Dining Options The food variety catered to all tastes, from buffet offerings to fine dining in the Main Dining Rooms (MDR) and specialty restaurants. While some dishes in the buffet were a bit overcooked, the Indian cuisine and noodle soups were consistently delightful. Specialty dining, particularly at La Cucina and Cagney's, was exceptional, offering delicious options like Bolognese lasagna and filet mignon. Entertaining and Educational Experiences The onboard entertainment was diverse, catering to a wide range of preferences. Highlights included the mesmerizing "Paradis" show and a tribute to Burt Bacharach. Additionally, the presence of expert lecturers on wildlife, geology, and history enriched our understanding of the Antarctic region, making the sea days both educational and engaging. This made our reports for the kids school easy to put together The education seminars kept our kids entertained Seamless Embarkation and Disembarkation Boarding the ship was a breeze, and disembarking took no more than 15 minutes, exemplifying NCL's efficiency in handling logistics. Unmatched Amenities The thermal spa pass was a worthwhile addition, offering a tranquil space for relaxation and access to gym classes. The gym itself was well-equipped, complementing the outdoor activities with a surprisingly large track for running. For families, the Splash Academy provided an exceptional childcare experience, with a range of activities catering to children's diverse interests and languages. Comfortable Accommodations Our balconies were spacious and comfortable, providing a cozy retreat after days filled with exploration.

Excellent Antartica Cruise by moweaqua

Great cruise for Antarctica. Breathtaking views. Entertainment on board was worst ever. Food was standard ship cuisine, not bad but could have been so much better.

Amazing Trip, Okay overall by furmur17

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Star

It was a great cruise overall. The staff on the ship make up for the areas that lacked. Everything from Norwegian is an upsell and they don't give you any true feelings. The extra $1500 for Premium Plus felt like a scam because everything we paid extra for ran out about halfway through the cruise. The "unlimited" internet is limited by the ship's bandwidth. We had a blast and it was a memorable trip, but there are many areas for improvement.

Great Antarctica Holiday Cruise by bwilt16

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Star

This was a wonderful cruise for the holidays. The only thing that the Norwegian Star needs to fix is the internet. Basically, non existent. They do not have Star Link and should not even sell packages. That being said, they did refund those packages. Antartica was a breath taking trip.

Portugal, Spain and Canary Islands Cruise by sdharamsy

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Star

Have an open mind, tone down expectation, and then relish every moment of the cruise. Everything is different, experience varies from place to place. Take it all in. Enjoy the blessing that is this vacation. There is so much to be grateful for - that is how I felt it. 11 days is too short. The clientele was diverse but well-mannered

40 shades of green by rcederholm

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Star

This was an excellent itinerary which lost 2 ports due to a massive storm. Captain did a fabulous job keeping us safe and still getting port days. Miraculously we only had one extra sea day. Guest services and Shoreex came through with replacement tours and the weather while in Port cooperated. Highly recommend this cruise.

due to weather we were unable to disembark in two of our scheduled ports. The excursions were informational but short. The cabin was very disappointing. Sewer smell from toilet we deducted the trap was draining and sewer gas was the issue. Very loud in our cabin couldn't sleep a couple nights

Mixed emotions by wbkhensley

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Star

Please be advised that if you travel on this ship after the autumn equinox, there is the potential of weather disrupting your travels. If there is a hurricane in the Caribbean, those winds and rains will travel up through Ireland the following week. The first three ports of our trip were canceled. a little disappointing but safety first .

Disappointing by deanharris506

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Star

My compliments to the Captain and crew for avoiding a hurricane. This meant we missed 3 ports of call. Norwegian refunded our missed excursion costs and port costs as they had to. In exchange they offered a measly $50 non refundable on board credit per person and a 10% discount on a future cruise. One guest I spoke with said he doesn't get out of bed for 10%. Another cruiser said he had missed a port on an Iceland cruise and got 50% off a future cruise. Public relations wise this led many people I spoke with, even loyal Norwegian cruisers to say they will be considering other cruise lines for their future cruises. Although no one can do anything about the weather, it was like corporate did not care about trying to do any damage control for public relations. We only ended up with one tender port in Dublin and it was a disaster trying to get back on the ship, Excursions left late and arrived back around the same time. There were about 1000 people trying to get on tenders to return to the ship. we were in line about 1 hour. It was like no one in operations spoke with the excursion people. Very disappointing experience as the tender blamed the passengers for waiting to come late at the same time. The only problem with that brilliant idea was the people in line were coming back from excursions. Very Poor Job!

Disappointing cruise line and very expensive by fox75

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Star

We missed the most important ports we were interested to visit in Ireland and instead spent 5 days at sea! We made a big mistake to book this cruise too far in advance-NCL dropped the price several times, but they did not adjust/reimbursed us.
