Review summary

We were disappointed for cancellation of the main part of the trip to cruise Paradise Island in Antarctica but understand weather conditions and the safety of the ship and all aboard. Staff was fabulous and very accommodating to assist handicap.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
They were extremely helpful in accommodating my husbands special dietary needs! Great service!

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
We used fitness center once. No assistance was offered to my handicap husband and very crowded so we never went again.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The cast shows were excellent but others were just ok. The Theater was overcrowded and during one show, people sat down on the steps in the handicap seating area. We tried to explain to them it was handicap and should be clear but they refused to move.

A little overcrowded with furniture and had to walk over ramped floor to bathroom. Our room was cleaned daily to perfection.

I was on that same cruise and I can assure you with 100% confidence and knowledge that the cancellation of the day cruising Paradise Bay was not at all weather or safety related. I spoke personally with the captain and he said he had never seen such perfect weather conditions . This was an “operational” decision made by Head office in Miami and nothing to do with passenger safety.

Thanks for your review.

Just to be clear there was NO weather-related reason that they did not go to to Paradise Bay which is continental Antarctica. It was an administrative decision. That decision was made before the cruise set sail, but not communicated to passengers until AFTER the NCL Star set sail.

Can understand that when you’re going all that way, you really want to see everything
