Review summary

I know people were disappointed in the itinerary change, but I enjoyed the transatlantic experience. The port locations were the secondary part of why I chose this cruise.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
The NCL provided transfer from the hotel was OK. We didn't get to the port until after twelve noon so there was quite a wait to embark but this is typical when you don't arrive early.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Specialty dining was great as always. I didn't have any bad meals at any of the venues. I didn't eat at the buffet. I stuck to the main dining rooms or the 24 hr place, O'Sheehans.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
The activities I participated in were fun due a lot to Shake-It-Shirley, one of the cruise director's staff. I also had the thermal suite pass. There were some hiccups with access to part of the spa as the pool was being worked on the first couple of days. NCL gave on board credit for the inconvenience. I also went to the art auctions which were fun due to the staff.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
I made it to all the shows except one. I think the Band on the Run could use some work, but the rest were great. I especially liked the magician/contortionist act.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
I give kudos to the hard working staff all over the ship, especially the ones that were almost done with their work contract after long months on board. Thanks to Ronald for taking good care of my stateroom.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Every NCL cruise I have been on, the ship is always clean and well appointed. I noticed some toilets out of order as the 2 weeks went by, but they were few and far between.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
My cabin was setup for 3-4 people but I could see how tight it would be with that many people. It was just me so it was great.

Ports of call

Cadiz (Seville), Spain

4 out of 5
The four stars is only because it rained the whole time I was in Seville. I found out that the people who stayed in Cadiz had clear weather.

Barcelona, Spain

5 out of 5
I came in a couple of days early to enjoy the city. I did my own tour through Barcelona Day Tours, who did a great job. I toured the city and went to Montserrat.

Malaga, Spain

5 out of 5
I took the ship excursion to Mijas. Good weather and nice little village.

Palma De Mallorca, Balearic Islands

4 out of 5
Beautiful city. Ship excursion went outside the city. Had great weather, rained a little but it was warmer than at home. I do have to say the four stars is just because it was a little difficult to understand our guide

Funchal, Madeira

5 out of 5
Wow, Funchal was beautiful. I got to see some awesome vistas.

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
The ship transfer to the airport was a bit of pained confusion. There were not enough NCL personnel outside the terminal to direct people traffic as there were people coming to board the next cruise and the groups were mixing.
