Review summary

As a mother-daughter cruise, this was a perfect setting. We had plenty of time together while we were able to do separate activities. Then we joined again at the pool and the buffets gave us the freedom to pack everything in a day that we wanted. Our highlight were the fantastic shows in the evening. My daughter was able to sing in the talent show the last night and she was thrilled about this unforgettable opportunity and experience to sing live with an 8 man professional orchestra.

Embarkation

Once through border patrol and security, the embarkation was smooth and luggage arrived almost immediately.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We only used the buffets and it was delicious with great variety and fresh ingredients til the last day.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We enjoyed the pool and hot tubs, jogging track, fitness center, golf driving range, shuffle board, and especially the bridge duplicate game and bridge lessons (ACBL Masterpoints)

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The stage shows were professional, fabulously staged and performed by great talent. Musicians live performances at the pool as well as at the Atrium contributed greatly to the relaxed, friendly atmosphere throughout the ship.

Children's Programs

no small children

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Personnel is very well trained, polite, friendly and ever eager to accommodate any guests wishes with a smile. They are impeccably dressed and groomed.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Not once in 2 weeks did I see any rubbish, left plastic cups, plates or dirty corners anywhere on the ship. I have not been on other ships to compare layout, but the Star's layout with its many zones on the 12th deck, pool, sundecks, fitness center, grill, bar and adjacent Garden Cafe makes it very convenient for all daytime activities. The elevators proved to be quite small and the wait was often long

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The cabin was comfortable, the bathroom was impeccable and the housekeeper treated us like royalty.

Ship tip

For people who get cold easily, bring your sweaters. While you can set the temperature in your cabin, the common aereas on the boat are very cold. If you book an inside cabin, there are very few quiet areas on the boat to be (reading) in daylight if the weather does not permit to be outside.
