Review summary

We really enjoyed ourselves and would do this cruise again. The canal was spectacular and the ports of call were beautiful spots.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Had to wait after we boarded for our room to be ready but went very smooth other than that.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We ate most of our meals at the buffet which was always well stocked ans a good variety

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We did the activities that we enjoyed and didn't feel any pressure to try anything else. We avoided the spa and fitness centre but really enjoyed the pool.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
WE really enjoyed the live bands but not the theatre shows as much.

Children's Programs

no children

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Excellent service from every staff person we dealt with. Very Friendly and helpful.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
common areas were kept clean and there always seemed to be someone there to make sure it stayed that way

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Very clean, small cabin. We lost toilet services for one day but another guest had flushed a towel and plugged the drain so we had wait until they could clear it out.

Ports of call

San Pedro (Los Angeles), California Did not visit port

Spent our pre-trip days at Disneyland

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

4 out of 5
Nice tourist area. A lot of people trying to steer you into their shops but that's to be expected. Pretty city.

Acapulco, Mexico

3 out of 5
A little disarming to see all of the police with assault rifles around but we had a great time. Walked up to see the cliff divers and visited a nice little market a couple of blocks from the waterfront.

Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala

5 out of 5
Went on an excursion to a Macadamia Nut Farm. Very interesting and a beautiful drive through the countryside. We traveled through the area ravaged by the volcano on the way to the farm.

San Juan Del Sur, Nicaragua

4 out of 5
Nice town. Lots of local vendors and a beautiful beach by the pier. We bought a coconut that was cut open with a straw for a dollar and when we finished they cut it open so we could eat the flesh.

Puntarenas, Costa Rica

5 out of 5
We went on the "Real Coffee Experience" and loved it. Beautiful ride to the plantation and we stopped for lunch on the way back in the town of Sarchi. It calls itself the oxcart capital of the world and for good reason. Beautifully painted oxcarts and a tour of the factory where they've been building and fixing them for decades. Very interesting.

Panama Canal Transit

5 out of 5
Highlight of the trip!! Extremely interesting!! Our cruise picked up a guide who explained features of the canal over the loudspeaker as we passed through the canal. Got to see the new locks (from a distance) as we traveled through the old ones. Quite the engineering marvel!!

Cartagena, Colombia

5 out of 5
We took a taxi to the old city and spent the day roaming around. What a beautiful city! Stopped at a cafe for coffee and lemonade. Lots of street vendors pushing their wares but round a corner and there would be nobody. Loved the architecture!

Miami, Florida Did not visit port

Rented a car and went to visit the Florida Keys

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Felt a little rushed but went very smoothly
