Review summary

Terrible. Norwegian needs to hire a consultant to help them turn the Star experience around.

Embarkation

As a Platinum member, there is a special embarkation line for use. However, the guides did not know this and sent us to the normal line causing an extra hour of embarkation time. Once we got to the counter to check in, the attendant associated my picture with my son's key card and vice versa. This caused a myriad of issues from embarkation/disembarkation, casino points, and latitudes rewards points. This issue hounded us for the whole trip because it was never corrected even though the Service Desk workers said they fixed it.

Two hours to have a meal is entirely too long. There was only one meal that was under 60 minutes. All of the other menus were at least 90 minutes and most times approaching 120 minutes. Food was ok, nothing special.

Lots of empty unused space. Spinnaker in the back? No place to sit inside and look out the front of the ship. The Jade has a much better layout.

Ship tip

Don't do it!!! Go on the other ships. Norwegian is our cruise line of choice but the Star is the worst ship in the fleet.

2 hours for a meal is too long? I am married to an Italian. Meals last 3 hours but of course we love each other and have fun without playing with a cell phone every minute. You were on vacation so I cannot figure why you would be in a hurry at meal time. Please explain. In all the years of cruising we have met and seen our Steward every day. However, if we needed things fixed, he always came promptly like when my Tuxedo was too short.

Seriously i am so sick of reading peoples bad views on this page. A holiday is what you make of it yourself. And anyone that constanly complains about everything should really save their money and stay at home. They would still find faults. Rant over.

As far as waiting that long for your meals- you could have said something to the waitstaff and/or the Supervisor.

Love the Star! Was on it for a month 12/16-1/17 and a month 3/17-4/17. And a few times previously. Staff was always helpful,friendly, and attentive. Service was good. As far as standing in the wrong line- speak up, the lines are flagged and visible.

Didn't like the Norwegian Star. Specialty restaurants were very good but the rest of the food was so so. Cabin was ok. Just needs refurbished.

Been on 2 NCL cruises.. one was a charter.. but didn't care for either as far as the cruise experience... the charter was a star trek cruise so that part rocked... but the cruise part was underwelming
