Review summary

The cruise was a fantastic experience. I highly recommend this trip to anyone who loves beautiful sites and history. Take advantage of the hospitality of the folks who live in these places. The people were friendly for the most part and most of them spoke English.

Embarkation

Quick and easy!!! Getting to the ship from Venice was easy too.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
We enjoyed the freestyle dining and the variety of restaurants that were included in the price of the cruise. The food was good.

Onboard Activities

There wasn't really much going on during the day on our sea day. Children were allowed in the clubs at night. I did make a complaint about that and the DJ announced the final night that anyone under 18 had to leave the club at 10:30 pm. This was a relaxing trip for us where we spent some time in the Spa which was EXCELLENT! The staff there was wonderful, caring and knowledgeable.

Entertainment

The shows were absolutely AMAZING!!!

Service and Staff

The staff and crew on this ship were so helpful and always had a smile on their face. I spent a lot of time with the band and photographers. We actually became friends on this trip.

Cabin / Stateroom

Dianne did it again.... put us in the best cabin on the ship! It was centrally located and because it was a handicapped room, was HUGE!! We loved it!

Ship tip

The Captain on this ship was awesome. Daily he gave us historical information about the port we were entering. He also kept us updated when the sea was a tad rough.

Ports of call

Venice, Italy

Venice was amazing. A bit crowded, but beautiful. You have to try Gelato anywhere in Venice! YUMMY! The Gondola ride was overpriced for the time you got in it, but it was still cool. Make sure to visit St. Mark's Square. Simply gorgeous and the best Gelato was there. The little mom and pop restaurants were the best and very decently priced.

Dubrovnik, Croatia

Absolutely BREATHTAKING! Make sure to take a camera and go visit the old city. The Game of Thrones was filmed here and it is gorgeous. Climb to the top of one of the forts and just take in the beauty. We took a taxi to the Old City which was only about 10 minutes from the port.

Kotor, Montenegro

5 out of 5
INCREDIBLE was the word for this beautiful port. Mountains everywhere. Fjords actually. We did a tour of the city and then walked the fort. It was 1700 steps to the top of the cliff where the views were amazing, but we chose not to go all the way up.

Katakolon (Olympia), Greece

5 out of 5
The Captain was able to port to let us off the ship, but then had to leave and we tendered back to the ship at the end of the day. Olympia was nice. We took a bus tour to Olympia where we paid to go see the ruins. It was amazing seeing the history there. The Port of Katakolon was gorgeous. It's right on the sea and the little shops were fantastic. There was so much to do here and we couldn't fit it all in one day. They had food, bars, pedal tours, train rides, horse drawn carriages, shops.... and everything was so affordable!!!

Piraeus (Athens), Greece

5 out of 5
The actual Port of Athens was not what we expected. It was a very crowded city but clean. We took a tour through Dream Vacations to the ruins and that was just amazing!!! We climbed to the top and say the Acropolis, Poseidon's Temple and the Parthenon. When we were done, we did some shopping in Plaka which is at the bottom of the ruins. Again, great shopping, great shops, affordable prices. The only issue we had were some ladies selling fabric and if you touched the fabric, they wanted to charge you. They hounded us and followed us until we finally got rude and said leave us alone.

Split, Croatia

5 out of 5
Croatia was beautiful. It reminded me of a tropical island. We visited the Palace area here and did some shopping. Very peaceful place with a lot of sea front activity going on near the port. Public markets, shopping, art venues. It was nice. Again, very affordable.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Disembarking was pretty quick and easy. We did the transfer to the airport which was the best decision we made. Getting to Venice from the airport was a hassle with luggage. We didn't want to deal with that again. NCL made that easy with the transfer.

Thanks for the positive review!! Whole family booked a cruise similar to this in 6/2019 on this ship and all the horrible reviews were making me want to cancel. Sounds like a great trip to me!!

Yes, it is good to see some positive comments! We were on the Spirit earlier this year and will be on the Star next February. We loved the Spirit and hope our trip through the Panama will be as good.

We did the exact same ship and itinerary two months ago - I loved it as well! And yes, the hike to the fortress in Kotor is NO joke lol!
