Norwegian Star

8 Night Mexican Riviera (Los Angeles Roundtrip)

Sail date: October 13, 2006

Ship: Norwegian Star

Cabin type: Balcony

Traveled as: Large Group

Review summary

The ship was spacious and updated with large gathering areas. Reservations for the specialty dining were very difficult to get. Our stateroom was large and comfortable with a great balcony. I didn't particularily like the layout of the ship as you had to walk through eating areas to get from one end of the ship to the other. The staff wanted you to sanitize your hands even if you were just walking through. On one side of the ship you needed to walk through a bar with smoking to get to the gift shop. The Spa was a wonderful experience.

Ports of call

Acapulco, Mexico

We were four hours late getting in here so missed the opportunity to see much of anything. We would like to go back to have the chance to explore more. Guides will take you to a flea market but it is dirty and disoranized. Prices are cheaper in Cabo San Lucas for shopping.
Don't Miss: Cliff Diving - You won't believe this until you see it.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

5 out of 5
A beautiful area with clean, clean water and preserves to snorkel in.
Don't Miss: Pirate Land - For all ages. A 6 hour sail with snorkeling, banana boat rides, and volleyball. Breakfast and a delicious lunch included.

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

Catch a cab and have them take you out further for snorkeling. The snorkeling where the tour took us was too congested and had garbage floating in the water.
Don't Miss: Take a water tour to see the Sea Lions and Lover's Beach.

Zihuatanejo/Ixtapa, Mexico

5 out of 5
Clean, quaint area. Easy to walk around. Good snorkeling.
Don't Miss: Walking along the sea wall.

Pros: The room was big with a great balcony and wall to wall sliding glass doors.

Cons: Serious lack of organization for embarking and debarking in Los Angeles and when tendering
