Enjoyable cruise with an excellent itinerary. Food quality could have been better, ship is a little dated but still had a great time. Staff were excellent, good entertainment, not as good a ship as NCL Epic.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
Very easy and quick embarkation in Civitavecchia, bit of an outside walk to the ship unfortunately in pouring rain. New cruise terminal currently being built should improve things eventually.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Good quality breakfast with freshly cooked eggs. Lunch buffet choice was not good, mainly cheap cuts, sausages, meat balls, pizza. We went to the main restaurant when it open (sea days) as the food was much better. Main dining room food was OK but steaks had no flavour, much better in speciality dining rooms ( this has been noticable on other ships recently, presumably to force you to pay extra). We were on the drinks package, choice was good but ship ran out of some brands well before end of cruise (no sure how this can happen).
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
Good quizzes daily, nice table tennis area.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
Shows were excellent good singing and dance team.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Excellent staff, who worked very hard.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
This is NCL'S oldest ship and is showing its age. Not easy getting to some levels on the ship without going up or down a level. Cabins a were good lay out with nice bathrooms and large showers (big plus point).
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Cabin was good size best bathroom we have had for some time, love large shower cubicle. TV system was old but channel selection was excellent Sky news and premier league football channel (makes a change from US ships showing wall to wall US sport.
Ship tip
Eat in the main restaurant at lunch time, better choice of food and much more relaxing/
Quite a small place, most people go to Olympia (not very impressive, after having been to Athens). Took the little train to the beach only 6 Euros, would highly recommend.
Very interesting place to visit, great cruise into the port, would recommend visiting Cathedral of St Paul. Look out for the canon being fired at Noon and 4pm.
