Wanted to just relax and not do too many offshore activities on this trip. This led to just staying near the ship and walking around for a few hours at each location. I had been to Roatan and Cozumel and knew what to expect. Costa Maya is a total tourist trap. Belize Cit is just plain nasty and does not look safe. Roatan had open sewage, starvings dogs and shopkeekers that tried to rip you off on the excahnge rate.
Like most cruises there are lots of hidden fees. Nine dollars for a weak rum and coke!
Internet access is way too expensive. $90 dollars mandatory tipping of the housekeeping staff per person, etc..
The water slide area is reserved for children. This is a pity since it was virtually abandoned by the kiddies oboard by the third day.

Food and Dining

The Raffles court Buffet could use some variety. it seemed it was pretty much the same food every day. The selection was good.

Entertainment

way too much hawking of items for sale on the intercom. It got to be annoying to hear about art auctions and emeralds for sale.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The crew was very friendly and efficient, but one annoying thing was the constant hawking of alcoholic drinks when outside on the top deck

Ship Quality

Norwegian Spirit is showing her age. Woodwork onboard needs a new coat of varnish. Some rust is evident on the top deck.. The workout area had enough treadmills, but could have used more weight equipment. The library had a nice sitting area, but a very small collection of books. Game room had a small selection of games. Could not find a chessboard.

Cabin / Stateroom

Interiors are well kept. The staterooms could use new televisions, the 18" CRT tv's were a surprise.

garbage everywhere, open sewage with kids playing in it. Did I mention the starving dogs?

Nasty third world hellhole. There was no reason the ship should have stopped here.
Don't Miss: Don't miss the boat when it leaves.

Best of the lot. Diving is awesome.

Total artificial tourist trap the docking area sells overpriced stuff, locals not allowed on premises. the beach area is a couple of miles away. The beach is nice but constant vendor harrasment makes you want to leave.
Don't Miss: none

Pros: Freestyle dining and the onboard restaurants.

Cons: Two destinations, Belize City and Roatan are nasty Carribbean slums.

Recommends Norwegian Spirit? Yes!
