Although this cruise was not terrible, it was worse than any other cruise I have ever been on. I have always enjoyed NCL cruises, but this one was not up to their usual standards.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
This was the best embarkation we have ever experienced!
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Food was not hot, but barely warm most of the time. My chicken cordon blue was not edible. The cherry pie was more like cherry jello pie.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
Entertainment
3 out of 5
Most of the shows were so-so. The comedian was not very funny. I thought he might get better, but he did not. He repeated most of his content in subsequent shows.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
It seemed like the cruise was under-staffed. The staff on board worked very hard, but service was not great.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
It was a small ship, but it was clean.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
It was small and cramped with very little storage space. We had two bunk beds above our beds that were in the way.
Martha's Vineyard was a fun stop, but the tender process was terrible. Our driver hit the Sky on our way out. Then he rammed the other tender on the way back to the ship causing damage to the doorway.
We went on the "Easy Walk in Saguenay National Park" excursion. The guide on the bus spoke poor English and her microphone didn't work well. It made a lot of noise and it was very difficult to understand her. The park ranger was enthusiastic and knowledgeable, but the walk was VERY short and not worth the 2-hour round-trip bus ride or the $109 per person charge.
We've never cruised with NCL but we're booked on the Sky for an 11 day Baltimore to Quebec next Sept. So I really appreciate your port reviews since we'll be stopping in a lot of the same places. A number of reviews on the Sky about food choices and even service have not been glowing so I hope NCL takes notice and try to improve in those areas.
